Welcome aboard Ernest, Nice bio, I'd be very interested in reading the other reasons hand tools are better than people (Galoots excepted of course). As for repairing your 81, if it were me, I'd file that broken stub flat, drill and tap a hole for a bit of threaded rod or decapitated machine bolt and turn a wooden handle for it. but a nice metal repair would look nicer.
