Hello.
I live in the Dallas/Fort Worth area with my wife, son (5) and daughter (2).
I work in the computer industry and became interested in woodworking after
my son was born and I wanted to make him a small table. With some help from
my Dad, the table was build and I was on my way.
My shop is an 8x10 storage building I have wired and outfitted with a AC.
Its full of Normie type tools as well as the following:
A #4 (aquired from the esteemed P. Leach). Type 18 -19. Has all the marks
of a type 19 except a T shaped frog receiver instead of the Y.
A #5. Type 15. An antique mall find (rare in these parts) for a resonable
price. Still has 60 - 75% of the stanley sticker on the tote.
A Craftman 9 1/2 clone. Again from Patrick. I'm not sure (nor was he) who
Sears got these from but its a good user.
A 60 1/2. Made in USA but looks to be from near the end of the line as the
iron has a 13-060A model number on it. Waiting on a Hock iron as the
original is too pitted.
Just picked up a 1221 egg-beater drill and have a Stanley 923 brace on the
way from an Ebay auction. Hope to get the little man interested a bit
(haha) by letting him do some drilling with Dad.
I'm 36 and there is someting enjoyable to me about having some tools older
than I connected with the traditions of woodworking. I find woodworking
(Normie and galoot) to provide a great distraction from the technology of my
work.
