I have been lurking for an embarrassingly long time and have decided that
it is
about time I identified myself. I am a biochemist on the faculty of Texas
Tech University School of Medicine in Lubbock. I am 57 years old and have
two daughters and three grandchildren. I have spent every spare nickel on
tools since the age of 10 and have, therefore, acquired a fair assortment
of hand and power tools for both wood and metalworking. I have about
200 planes, and enjoy using them; but I am not the least
bit hesitant to use power tools, especially for such labor-intensive
operations as resawing and ripping long boards.
I am a member of the Southwest Tools Collectors Association and the
Midwest Tool Collectors Association. I attend the SWTCA meetings in
Arlington fairly frequently (since my daughter lives there) and
occasionally attend meetings elsewhere. I have had private dealings with a
couple of members of the group (Keith DeGrau & Eddie Sirotich). I have
known Bob Davis for quite a few years, and we get together a couple of
times a month to have lunch and talk about tools. I hope to have the
opportunity to become acquainted with more of you as time goes by.
Best regards,
Gwynne Little
