183520 "Zachary Dillinger" <zacharydillinger@g...> 2008‑10‑09 Introduction
Assembled Galoots,

My name is Zach Dillinger, I'm 24, and I'm an old tool-aholic. I've been a
lurker on the OldTools list for the past few months and I finally decided it
was time to make myself known. I've been woodworking for about 2 years and I
have enjoyed every minute of it. It started when I moved into a new (to me)
house with unfinished kitchen cabinets and it exploded into a full blown
obsession with wood, tools, and vintage cast iron. My basement shop is full
of hand planes, saws, chisels, and a couple tailed apprentices. I'm sure I
don't have as many in my collec... errr.... "user stable" as some of you,
but my wife is already complaining about it. I've always managed to find
good deals on my tools, including the LN 60-1/2 rabbet block plane I got for
$40, the round side Bedrock #7C for $20, the Type 15 Sweetheart 5 1/4 that I
got for $1, and the Stanley 50 with full blade set I found in my garage. My
interests run towards period reproductions, but I have yet to really tackle
one as I work about 70 hours a week and I don't yet have faith in my carving
or turning skills. I recently finished my Continental style bench in maple
and a tall Shaker clock in sassafras (what can I say, I got the lumber for
free). I'm going to be starting my first all hand tool project after the
November election (I work in politics). I plan to make an ash blanket chest
for my wife (again, got the lumber for free).

Thank you all for the knowledge you so freely share. I hope to be able to
contribute meaningfully to the board. In the mean time, I will sit back,
keep my ears open, and try not to earn spittoon cleaning duties...

Thanks again,

Zach Dillinger

John;

Welcome to the slope: "there's something about the feel of old tools in
the hand." Happy sliding. Heh heh.
