Hello, You've finally dragged me in! This whole thing started a year
and a half ago. I'm a carpenter by trade, almost thirty years of power
tools and nail guns. Banging up houses and four season rooms as fast as we
can, so we can spend the Wisconsin winter inside trimming. On a rather
cold Saturday morning I was in my Shop and I saw the nose of a Handplane
that had been bouncing around from one unused container to another for
something like ten years. I pulled it out and something said clean me, use
me! So instead of having to shovel out the woodpile or keep at finishing
the new addition, I was going to clean a Record #5 1/2. Igot out the
steelwool, and the Laquar Thinner, when that inner voice said knowledge is
power! On to the net I went. Up comes georgesbasement, and my life changed
forever. I now live in our basement, I'm always late coming home on Thurs.
and Fri. for hitting Garage Sales on my 20 ml. drive Home. I want to Thank
all of you for deep pool of information you've made available. I've
tripped a few times at the Fleas, making bad buys, but do to your info and
throwing a tight leash around a novice, fresh to the hunt! Thanks again.
Jeff Bredeson.

So Jeff, where ya at in Wisconsin? We've got a growing group in the
metro Milwaukee-ish area and quite a few in northern IL. Look for
details of a small get together in November .. prolly at my place in
Cedarburg ... little talk, little trading, little selling and buying,
maybe even use a tool or two.....

OT content - finished something .. well... sort of... bench hook
carving box for relief carving.. thanks for the many suggestions as I
gear up to teach the woodcarving merit badge.. keep 'em coming!

cheers all,
