Welcome to the porch Gregory. You have posted my new favorite Bio!
That girlfriend of yours is a keeper! Seal the deal.
(Sorry, not really any of my business...)
Beautiful carving, and photography too.
Cheers,

159327 grotechef@S... 2006‑04‑14 hello!
hello, i'm new here. my name is gregory, i' m from belgium. i've been
working wood for four years. not professionaly. i do not like working
with machines. there is a page with pictures of my woodcarvings:
http://users.telenet.be/tenor/ it has old tool content too: stamps on
old french chisels, and pics of self-made mallets and diy chisel handle
as well. the planes in the pics are all in restored, working condition.
(i have more planes than those pictured and a lot of other non-pictured
tools). but i aim to have a couple of working condition tools only, and
not collect. or stop collecting. as i rent a small appartment with my
girlfriend, my shop is (in) our living room - two very big beech
workbenches (one has an 8cm thick top, the other is a two-man-bench with
a 4 cm thick top). i got the benches cheap at 35 euros and 100 euros
(second hand from woodworking schools). i have to sweep every day to
avoid the shavings migrating to the other rooms. (for my girlfriend, the
woodworking is okay - i used to work on bicycles in the living room
before, and that was a lot messier because of the grease. i destroyed a
lot of clothes working on cycles - she didn't like that. i understand
that now ;) there are tools in the bedroom too. i learned to use a plane
and such mainly by reading a lot of messages on this list, and reading
old books. (of which i have a small collection). i am 30 years old, i
have a master degree in visual arts, and also studied furniture
restauration and classic upholstery. i grow trees (seedlings), also in
the appartment, well, bedroom - they are still small. (chestnut, juglans
nigra, and other nut trees.) i hope to plant the trees when/if we buy a
house. the site is new, as i just made it today (and yesterday and the
day before) i'll keep it short for now, but would very much enjoy
questions and or reactions to the site and this post. there's not that
much hand tool people over here. greetings, gregory
