Try taking the corners off of your irons just *slightly*...a couple
thousandths should do it.

(just rocking the iron from side to side a wee bit upon sharpening should 
suffice)

You can also start planing from one edge, and if your strokes 
overlap, the 'ridge' should end up off the other side ofthe board.
