Since Dan brought it up, one of the Beach Boys had heard the name Kokomo
somehwere and thought is sounded kinda Carribean, hence the song. When
they appeared in Indianapolis (50 miles south), the mayor invited them to
see the real Kokomo. For some reason they declined. Where else can you see
a stuffed steer who weighed 5000 lbs and a tree trunk, 10' in diameter,
that was hollowed out and once housed a sharecropper's family? Answer me
that!

If you're curious (as I know you are), Kokomo, like half the places in the
Midwest, was named after an Indian chief - Ko-Ko-Mah. Was he real? Who
knows?

As for my web domain, kokomobeach.com, it just seemed a natural at the time.
