46429 Jhiggispun@a... 1998‑07‑17 Bio - Jim Higgins
Hello.

My name is Jim Higgins. I am a 42 year old nonprofessional woodworker from
southeastern Pennsylvania. I became interested in old tools a few years ago
after reading Mike Dunbar's "Antique Woodworking Tools". My interests to this
point have been fairly general. In the last few months, however, I have
purchased "A Guide To The Makers Of American Wooden Planes" by Emil and Martyl
Pollak, "British Planemakers From 1700" by W.L. Goodman (revised by Jane and
Mark Rees) and "The Wooden Plane - Its History, Form And Function" by John
Whelan, so I guess that I've developed a special interest in wooden planes..

I found the Oldtools list by way of the Electronic Neanderthal website. I read
the FAQ and found it very useful, especially the suggestions for "acclimating"
myself to the list. I read the archives for a few months and then I subscribed
to the list and lurked for a while as per the FAQ. "A while" turned into well
over a year, so I probably overdid that part a bit. I haven't seen any
indication that anyone else on this list has a tendency to carry things to
extremes ;-) .
