What a great place this is!

There’s a big old barrel of whatever you fancy over in the yorkshireman’s corner
- the unsuccessful entrants can drown our sorrows and talk about grand times,
and the successful galoots - that’ll be the ones with big grins - can toast the
rest, and each other, and - heck let’s just have a wee dram (small whisky,
Paddy) or whatever you fancy and salute Jim Thompson and all the past and
present galoots. I feel blessed to have mementos from a few galoots scattered
around the workshop.

Just say (tm)
It’s stuff like this that made the Porch the finest place on the internet - and
keeps it that way.

with thanks to Scott for such a grand notion

Boy, that seems like last year already.
SO AFTER I returned home and the held mail was finally delivered, I picked
up an unreasonably long package from Happy Camp. That box was made from the
finest extra virgin reused cardboard, as befitting its contents. Inside was
one of Jim's large paring chisels with a very nicely made London-pattern
handle. Signed "Old Millrat 2012". It's beautiful. Thank you Scott!
It's also marked Entz and Rucker, a brand I've not heard of. I did find
Jim's query to the list about it in 2011, and an advertisement for the
hardware store of the same name (on the bottom of page B8) of the Los
Angeles Herald of Jan 9, 1920.
