I’m so sorry to hear this. What a devastating loss for his family, and for all
of us who knew him through his writings and his open hearted sharing of
knowledge and advice. One of our finest.

One thing,
I’m going to salute him with a glass of Tullibardine this evening. And I’m
going to rejoice in the manner of his passing. When my turn comes, I hope I go
the same way. No lingering, no long drawn out decline, agonising for me and
painful for my nearest.

Here today - writing to friends on the OldTools list, chaffing and enjoying the
company of friends and neighbours.
Then gone, with the last cheery ‘Good night’ still in the ears, and only good
memories of a man still with all his faculties, good humour, and graciousness.

Ed, I salute you, and I thank you for your company and your teachings and your
camaraderie over the years.

and I shall miss you.

many contributions here on the list, but his contributions in our community were
much broader and impactful. This is a loss many will feel deeply.
