>sorry I didn't tell enough about myself, I have a Beautiful girlfriend & a
beautiful 18 month old daughter. My furniture is heavy in Shaker, Mission
and Colonial style, and some of my own designs are take-offs of these
designs. I live in Eastport, ME which is the most easterly city in the US.
I am so close to Canada that I watch the sunrise over Campabello Canada
every morning. (HA if i got up that early!) Can't forget the animals, got
two dogs, one Sheltie and one Newfoundlander, plus two cats. We own our
own home built in 1870(?) which in our spare time we are in the process of
restoring. My shop is built off my house, its not huge its 25x18 which I
make due with the little space i have. We are 10 hours northeast of
Boston. We are kind of isolated here but we wouldn't have it any other
way. Business has been pretty good, we are in the process of building
three kitchens, a set of three bookcases made of brown ash, plus a cherry
table with 8 Shaker style chairs, and a cherry desk. My furniture is about
85% hand made with the help of a few modern conveniences like a table saw,
etc. I don't consider myself a hand plane collector but a user. My planes
consist of anything from Bedrocks to a few Baileys a bunch of Stanley
specialty planes and lots of hollows, rounds, and bead planes. One of the
funnest things I like doing is making reproduction moulding with the
hollows and rounds. Other things I do: I'm in the process of putting
together a lesson plan because i have been asked to teach a woodworking
class at the local Boat School (part of the University of Maine system).
Plus, i used to be a fisherman until the boat sank during scallop season.
Thanks to the coast guard i'm here building furniture instead of at the
bottom of the ocean as lobster bait! Thats it, got to get back to work
because winter is about a month away here, we make most of our money in the
summer. I hope this is what you wanted for info. Any questions feel
free to contact me.
