18484 Eric D.M. Johnson <ejohnson@r...> 1997‑05‑16 Bio: Eric Johnson
I was born and raised in Fairfax, Virginia, and just turned 26. I
earned a BA in history at William & Mary (the school that educated young Tom
Jefferson) and am about 3 weeks away from finishing my MA in U.S. history,
with an emphasis on the American Civil War (I've enjoyed the realization
that reenacting happens in Canada, too). I now work in the library at the
University of Richmond, in the Government Documents department, after a
two-year stint in the Archives Division of the state library.
My wife and I just bought our first house, a beauty of a
mostly-restored "Frank Lloyd Wright-style" block-walled house in the north
side of Richmond, VA (built in 1920 and once apparently a brothel). We're
starting up a nonprofit organization to undertake a creative arts
neighborhood ministry (my wife's in seminary) and are slowly settling in.
For kicks, I've been participating in living history events the past several
years.
        My woodworking experience is mostly limited to occasional carpentry;
I've already forwarded my tool list as it stands today. I hope to be
setting up my woodshop and starting in on more serious furniture making in
the very near future. Any advice is very welcome. I'm looking forward to
sipping some lemonade on the porch, and I appreciate the warm welcome
already extended by so many galoots.
