152520 "James P. Early" <earlyjp@p...> 2005‑11‑20 Bio
Greetings all,

I'm submitting my bio in preparation for the upcoming gift exchange.
My name is Jim Early, and I live in West Lafayette, IN. I'm 46 years
old and have been involved with woodworking for about 20 years. I
always enjoyed building stuff as a kid (soapbox racer, backstops for
street hockey, etc.), but it was in my 20s that I began to organize
  tools and build "enduring" items.

My early tool acquisitions were all powered. I started collecting old
tools about two years ago prompted by the desire to work in an
environment of reduced noise and increased safety. I also enjoy
playing guitar, so my digits are important to me!

I was born in Philadelphia and grew up in the Germantown area. In the
faint hope that one of you might by a long-lost classmate, here are
  the schools I attended:

Anna Lane Lingelbach Elementary Clarence E. Pickett Middle School
Central High School (236th class)

I began my professional life as a network operations technician with
MCI Telecommunications. Promotions took me first to Washington, DC,
then to Baltimore, MD. About 7 years ago, I decided to enter
graduate school to pursue a Ph.D. in computer science. That's what
brought me to Purdue University in charming West Lafayette. I
graduated from Purdue in August '05 and am now a visiting assistant
professor with Purdue's computer science department. I'm thoroughly
  enjoying my new vocation!

SWMBO and I have been married for 20 years and have a delightful
daughter. We've remained in WL to allow our daughter to finish high
school here (she's a junior). We all really love the quality of life
here. Our plans are to relocate "back east" in about 18 months to get
closer to our family. I'll be looking for a tenure-track position
then, and an important selection criteria will the be "rust hunting"
  in the surrounding community. :-)

As it relates to the gift exchange, I'm currently looking for router and
fillister planes and parts (users, of course).

Thanks for reading! Jim Early
