145353 "John Edwards" <johnedwards123@c...> 2005‑04‑30 John Edwards -- Bio
Esteemed GG`s,
Time to come clean now.
Not only have I been lurking under the porch for the last few weeks. I've
even managed to climb a few of the steps. When I thought no one was looking.
To be even extra sneaky even scampered over the railing a couple of times.
Alas I have been caught and it now time to pay the esteemed lord of rust for
my wrong doings.

Since we all have to be honest here, well mostly that is. I do own a shop
full of big electron burners. Now before all you raise your arm in protest I
have to inform you that some of those electron burners could count as old
`arn. Refurbished old `arn that is. All done by yours truly. Course the
story wouldn't be complete without admitting to a few of the more modern
burners also.

But this is all beginning to change; I've seen the light. And with the help
of the esteemed group of Galoots here and about I can rest assured that my
bank account, shop space and methods of work will most surely change. A
change for the better. Dare I say a converted Normite....

Now don't get me wrong. I am not about to start resawing 8/4 stock with
muscle power. But after the electrons are spent resawing that 8/4. Then the
Galootness in me can start to work. Doing the 18th century reproductions
that I so dearly love.

Ok ok the personal stuff. New Baltimore (a small town North of Detroit
Michigan, Jeff) is what my wife and 3 daughters call home. Just far enough
out but not to far.
Officially I am a retired engineer from one of the auto companies this past
February at the ripe old age of 47. Unofficially I retired on Sunday August
4, 2002 at 1:31 pm. That is when I got broadsided in a boating accident that
has forever changed the way things are done. Enough about that...

Now I am finding that the work that comes out of the shop is of a higher
quality. Simply do to fact of successful rust hunts, learning to sharpen
better and learning new techniques.
Many of those techniques have come from the advice of my fellow Galoots here
on this service. To that I thanks all those whom have chimed in and offered
advice over the last month or so.

Be sure, as a GIT there will be a number of questions. Promise to do a
search of the archives before asking. But nonetheless thanks to one and all.

John Edwards
New Baltimore, Mi.
