139112 "Hans A. Muller" <viaconsu@t...> 2004‑12‑03 Re: Boring apparati, from new member
First, let me introduce myself: Hans Muller, retired civil engineer,
living in the Netherlands (yes, that loud-mouthed, tiny, overcrowded
piece of muddy delta bordering the North Sea). My grandfather was a
cabinet maker, unfortunately most of the wooden parts of his tools were
used to keep warm and cook sugar beets during the winter of 1944 - 45.
Too many hobbies, but I am scaling down on the restoration and riding of
classic motorcycles (Triumph, BSA) and hope to spend more time on
torturing wood: showcases for my wife’s ceramics and crystal collection,
and finally making that Kentucky rifle for which I have the parts
already for some 30 years. About knowing tools: one of the best buys I
made was the “Dictionary of tools” by R.A.Salaman (ISBN 004-621-020-2).
It helped me to find the name and use of unknown objects and to
reconstruct some of my grandfather’s tools, and make reproductions of
other tools. And some of the best tools I have were made in Rwanda (of
all places...). Hans
