GG's

I have been lurking here for some weeks now and have posted a couple of
times. This is my bio.

What's left of the hair on my head is nearly white. I don't recall how
young I was when my Dad, a printer by trade but a galoot at heart (born
in '94), started giving me an eggbeater, a screwdriver, etc. whilst he
worked or tinkered in the basement. I "helped" him build 3 boats over
the years, all done with hand tools and cardboard patterns he drew up.
After his death, I discovered that his father was a farmer and
carpenter. His Dad died when he was only 3; so he never knew him.
Maybe sawdust and shavings addiction is a genetic thing.

I have worked in the information technology field, in the finance
industry mostly, since the mid 60's. Managed to work my way thru
college and get a degree in business admin before there were computer
science degrees. My ww'kng has been varied. I've mostly done carpentry
(repairs, decks, room additions, remodeling) but I've done some
cabinetry and simple furniture construction. I have hand planes,
drills, handsaws, etc. that belonged to Dad plus some of those tailed
apprentices that I've acquired over the years. My only bench p@w@r
t@@ls are a TS and router table. I find that I really like to plane
wood; only wish I could master techniques that would allow me to make
squared, parallel sides.

Thanks for listening. I hope I can contribute here in some small way.

BTW: I discovered that my return receipt option was turned on for the
first couple of posts I made here. Mea Culpa and a thousand apologies.
