-266 "William Gustafson" <oldtools@t...> 2003‑01‑13 Bio of William A. Gustafson
Somewhere along the line my original bio was lost so I am rewriting and
submitting it now.

I migrated from rec.woodworking when the list was founded back when, in the
foggy mists of time, and so naturally that makes me a charter member of this
group. I am jig saw puzzle maker and use a treadle lathe for that. I am also
a timber frame builder and an antique tool dealer, doing business since
1977. My current businesses are WAG Antiques, WAG Computers, and Austerlitz
Restorations. You will find me at all the major tool meetings and shows.

I have been a director of the M-WTCA organization from Area H and later Area
R after that area was created. I have served on many committees in the
M-WTCA organization and also on the Executive Board as Vice-President
Elections for a number of years.

Likewise I have served on several committees in the EAIA and was the prime
contractor of the EAIA Directory of American Toolmakers Directory project,
starting that on its way with computer data entry of some huge number of
entries and sorted printouts.

I am an auctioneer and have in the past held many auctions to include the
first all Stanley auction at the Stanley Anniversary meeting organized by
John Walters in Connecticut. Stanley also hired me to acquire and refinish
the planes that were used as anniversary souvenirs.

As of late I have been slowing down and devoting more time to hearth and
home, but I still manage to manufacture Black Japanning, as previously used
by Stanley.

You will not see many posts by me to the group as I do not have time to
engage in debates. What you will find is that I often respond directly to
the individual with answers to their questions and as such hope that
understand that I speak from experience and knowledge. I have an extensive
reference library with over 1,000 books in it.
