I've been lurking here for the past few weeks. My online ww experiences
started in the Compuserve WW forum a few years ago. I spent a small amount
of time in rec.ww, and ended up here. I've been woodworking for a few
years, but not as much lately. About four years ago, I got transferred
from Dallas to Germany, and work has gotten in the way of my hobby. I'm
disappointed that I haven't found any great sources of ww over here in
Germany. They seem to be particularly sparce of tools and information. I
was able to go to a David Stanley Antique Tool Auction in England a couple
of years ago, which was very interesting.

I have a good selection of hand and p. tools. Most of my hand tools are
the common variety (Bailly, etc.) I'm hoping to learn (by purchasing and
using) about the less common tools like the Bedrocks, #45/#55, etc. I'm a
Mechanical Engineer by trade so I love all the gadgety tools that Stanley made.

My current project is a workbench made out of European beech. It's somewhat
similar to a Shaker bench in that it has a full cabinet underneath, but I'm
going to install modern vices on it. I've been working on it for a couple
of years now, and I really need to finish it before we move back to the US,
which will probably happen later this year. One thing that I learned very
quickly is that you need a good bench to properly use hand tools. I plan at
some point to post pictures of my workbench on my WWW site, if I ever get
the time and motivation.

I don't have alot of information to offer the group at the moment, so my
main contribution in the short term will most likely be a bunch of
questions. I'd also like to publish some on-line information as time
permits, and as my knowledge level increases.
