Greetings List Members,

I recently discovered this list and have been lurking for a few weeks. =
I'm happy to say that I find the topics interesting and the discussion =
stimulating. I recognize many of the names from other forums, and I'm =
glad to be here.

After an engineering degree, a stint as a Naval Aviator, working as an =
engineering consultant, starting and selling two small design companies, =
I retired (or so I thought) about 10 year ago to a life of cabinet =
making, keyboard instrument design and construction and a small mom and =
pop piano operation. Now I find myself going 18 hours a day 7 days a =
week, and far from retired. The up side is that I get to do a LOT of =
woodwork.

My interest in woodwork is tied to a bigger drive I have to just build =
things. I started at a young age carving things, then building models, =
then building boats and repairing pianos in association with various =
family members who did these things professionally. My collection of =
tools, and more specifically old hand tools just grew naturally as I =
discovered their utility. My collection of Stanley, Sargent, and Ohio =
metal planes is by far the largest category, and for some reason, planes =
(and particularly scraper planes) are the items I find most interesting. =
I buy, sell, and trade old tools for fun, and, yes, I do a lot of it on =
eBay.

I'm looking forward to participating in future discussions with all of =
you.

Regards,

Frank Weston
