45857 Barry Young <barryjyoung@y...> 1998‑07‑03 Bio: Barry Young
--------DISENGAGE LURKING DEVICE--------

I was just passing by minding my own bidness
when I accidently overheard, overheard mind
you, not eavesdropped or lurked or anything
vile like that, some good ol' boys shootin'
the breeze up on the porch. I sat on the
steps for a spell absorbing scads of wisdom
and knowledge. My knee started to itch and
was I surprised that I didn't have to bend at
the waist to scratch it. My hat popped off as
my forehead began to protrude. I was hooked.
Here's my bio. For starts anyway.

My name is Barry Young. I live in Kent, Wa.
of which Seattle is a minor suburb. I am a
machiner (machinist in neanderese, rhymes with
miner spelled with a K)for Boeing. We
supposedly make aeroplanes. Hah! like
something heavier than air could actually fly!
For all those misguided Tim Allen fans, my mill
at work delivers thirty five honest to god
horsies at (that's AT!) the tool. Three spindles
and a 150 FOOT bed! Cincinatti 950 control for
dem dat care. I am in my extremely late thirties,
completely low tech when not doing my thing for
the man, and married to the greatest SWMBO tool gathering galootish
gal on the planet.

I like making and repairing wooden cameras fer
bucks on the side, teach a little shop theory
down at the local machinist production facility,
and do everything I can to get more and more
hand tools for cheap. I have four metal lathes
conveniently set up in my dream shop/bedroom. I
use this conflagration to make repro parts for
#45 and #55 planes out of New Britain.

I feel I can not be a totally fulfilled knuckle
dragger till I get a hat. BUT, twenty smackeroos
is about half of a #5 1/4 I have been eyeing down
at the tool dealers. It is a tough decision but I
can do without the plane, gotta have the hat!

I figure that since I am strictly a user that by
the time I have my third or fourth of each common
Stanley plane I should be able to start a project.
I wouldn't want to start a project without the
necessary tools.

I have been accidently overhearing you galoots for
about a year but couldn't join up till I got a
compooter at home and SWMBO showed me what the
buttons do. Now I type with both fingers!

I only have a few hand tools (800) of which only 9
are planes. For an unknown reason I am in love with
egg beaters and handsaws. I like to watch Mr.
Underhill except when he laughs or has puppet
carving techniques on. After watching Roy for a year
I tossed my old circler saw in the dumpster and
never looked back. The metal lathe has a tail but
that is it. My watchmakers lathe is one child
power and with three kids, someone is always there
to turn the wheel.

Email me if you have any questions about working
metal with your #4 smoother. I will try and help.

Rest easy galoots. Anybody got a chaw?
