GGs,

I just set up our List on groups.io, and it turns out that we can handle
the site costs using a donations mechanism that's built in, so we don't
need the additional complexity of a separate collections site.

In the next few days I will look into how I migrate our subscriber list to
the new site, set up my server to automatically forward email to the new
address, and send out another email when I'm ready to pull the trigger.

My recollection from when one of my other email lists moved to groups.io is
that once I've moved everyone over, each of you will get an email from the
List asking you to confirm you wish to join, and a link to take you to your
new account on the site. With that link, you can choose a password for your
OldTools account and set up your preferences (Digest mode, etc.). You can
also donate to the List at that point. If the way the donations work make
you nervous, you're welcome to send me a check.

Questions?

Thanks for being patient as we go through this process!

Cheers,

ListMom, Chris

It's been eons since I posted anything, but the list has been part of my
life since the mid 90's. I can't imagine not having it hanging around in my
inbox and not having access to it's expertise and resources. A few bucks is
a small price to pay. I'm in.

My thoughts/experience exactly. I’m happy to donate, and thanks everyone for the
work of keeping the list going and contributing your knowledge.

GG's

First
a hearty and heartfelt THANK YOU to Chris for his many efforts on behalf of
OLDTOOLS.

Second
I'm in! I'll contribute to the continuing existence of the most well-mannered
and intellectual Internet forum that I've ever seen. I've been on the list since
the mid-1990's. It's one of the joys of my life. A place to learn and to assist
others ! ( And, occasionally, to gloat and be gloated! :) )

Chris,

Thank you for all of your efforts and endurance on behalf of the list and
the Oldtools community. I have been enjoying the List since the escapades
of Natalie and the Woodchuck. My days are always enhanced by the Oldtools
inbox.

I will certainly contribute to the future of the list.
