Re the videos I have posted links to recently were unfortunately ALL taken
down (for some unknown reason).
They were posted by someone called “DIgital Heritage Service” and now there
are only a handful of films on that channel (there used to be hundreds of
handcraft videos ).

Curse of the Internet -Monetisation (monetization, Paddy )

Just say (tm) 0 Sir Tim gave the www to the world - free, gratis. The
guardians of the free world don’t understand how that works.

Richard Wilson
Yorkshireman galoot - feeling cranky.

Richard: That particular silent film I linked showed an older well hatted
galoot (wearing a nice cap for disambiguation) firing up his steam tractor.

-chopping kindling wood then breaking up basketball sized chunks of coal
packing the fire box

-Then oil. Oiling the oil pots. Oiling, oiling, oiling a bazillion oil
cups (some with lovely sight glasses, some just probably felt filled cups,
as well as filling some bigger screw capped oil reservoirs).
Man that thing needed a lot of oil! He was carrying an oil can that
looked as big as a garden watering can.

-some gratuitous shots of pressure gauges with the needle rising and
billowy smoke out of the smokestack.
-a huge leather PTO belt is placed, and the flywheel starts

"Awww " moment: his ?grandson shows up with some apples and grandpa puts
the fruit near the boiler head (I guess to cook them ?),
The film ends with grandpa and grandson enjoying the cooked apples by the
steaming tractor.

Never got to see what the belt was powering.

It got me thinking how easy things are today in comparison to those times.
I can start my truck from the kitchen table while finishing my tea at
breakfast.
Cheers
Claudio
