“The company continued to function until 1966, when it was bought out by Mann
Edge Tool Co. of Lewistown, Pennsylvania, another reputable axe manufacturer.
Mann Edge Tool Co. continued to manufacture Collins axes under the Collins Axe
division. Axe production continued until 2003.

In 2004 the Collins Axe division was bought by Truper Herramientas, a company
based in Mexico. Truper Herramientas continues to produce Collins axes.”

My father, a WW2 USN Seabee, was issued a Collins machete to use in his service
on Calicoan Island and the southern part of Samar, Philippine Islands. He told
me that it was such a great blade that he regretted not bringing it back from
the War.

That man could put a razor edge on anything, freehand.
