Another rainy day here in PA and well the rest of the week is looking
pretty much on the dismal side as well.  But things keep on coming in
and need to find new homes.  Lots of fresh user and collectible tools
this time around.

PayPal is now accepted and preferred (if you use it) on all items. On
items less than $25 (not including shipping) I would appreciate you
using the Send Money to Family & Friends option so I don't get killed
with the fees but that is your call. Checks and money orders are still
welcome, it just seems that 1st Class letters seem to be taking forever
to get from there to here.

And remember........da more ya buy, the cheaper they fly!

First contact (that is e-mail, or phone) that says I want it gets it.
Oldtools terms, except on items and orders over $100, if I don't know ya
or haven't done business in the past (and my records good way back..)
then it's pre-pay. I do take PayPal (except as noted). Prices do not
include shipping. All items are shipped with Delivery Confirmation.
Insurance, unless it is a big order or a very fragile item is optional.
Just let me know. Also, I am shipping a lot more stuff via First Class
mail. There will be a small amount added to the shipping cover the cost
of the padded mailer. I don't get them for free.

Please put your name and address in the message. Saves time and email
traffic!

Seven Gimlet Tip Bits For A Brace or Bitstock. The sizes go from 4 to 10
(these are in 32nds of a inch increments in cause you were asleep in
class that day in first grade), and they weigh 6 1/2 oz unboxed.  All of
them have similar maker's marks except for the No. 4 but they were all
found together.  These are in very good condition and were not cleaned.
I really think that they weren't used at all.  There are few spots of
very light patina on the bodies but nothing bad at all.  The edges are
all factory sharp and the tangs are good with no dings or wear.  Having
sold a bunch of these guys over the years, I gotta say, that sets like
this are few and far between.  $30.00

Early Hand Forged Flint Knapping Hammer & Vent Pick.  Measuring 4 3/16"
overall, the head is 2 5/16" long, the face is 3/8" square, the peen is
1/2" wide, and this weighs 2 1/4 oz unboxed.  Not signed as to the
maker.  There are user initials pin punched on the top along with some
decorative punch marks on the top and side.  This is in reasonably good
condition for the age and use and was cleaned. There is some patina but
that's to be expected.  The face has some dings and a little mushrooming
around the edge.  The peen also has some wear and again, a little
mushrooming.  The pick has a very slight bend at the end.  I gotta say,
that tools like this are sure few and far between any more.  $50.00

S Copeland Patent 1887 Machinist Divider.  The upper arms are 3 7/8"
long, this is 7 5/16" overall as pictured, and this weighs 4 1/4 oz
unboxed.  Salem Copeland of Worcester, MA was granted Pat. No. 363,600
on May 24, 1887 for the design of this tool.  The design was picked up
by P. S. & W. and later L. S. Starrett, but this is the original.  This
is in decent condition and was cleaned.  There is some overall frosting
and light pitting on the body.  The joint is good.  The locking screw,
fine adjuster nuts, and the nuts for the point clamps all work and were
oiled.  This has one point, the originals per the patent, had cutting
edges on the thick ends, but this one doesn't.  This ain't minty by any
stretch but it is a very uncommon patented tool.  $30.00

Vintage 4 Inch Draw Knife Or Drawknife.  Measuring 10" overall, the
blade is 4 1/16" long, 3/4" wide across the edge, and this weighs 4 oz
unboxed.  Not signed as to the maker.  This is in decent condition and
was cleaned.  There is some frosting on the back and some staining on
the front but nothing too bad.  The edge will need a touch-up.  The
handles have most of the original finish plus a coat of wax.  The one
does have a hanging hole in it.  Both are solid and on tight.  This
ain't the prettiest but it will get the job done.  $34.00

H O White Hebron CT No 3 Taylor Patent Iron Brace.  Measuring 11 1/4"
long, the sweep is 8", and this weighs 1 lb 8 3/4 oz unboxed. Jeremy
Taylor of Hebron, CT was granted Pat. No. 9,814X on June 30, 1836. They
were made by several manufacturers in Hebron including H. O. White.
This is in reasonably good condition and was cleaned by someone else.
There ain't much in the way of patina to fuss about. The chuck is good
with no cracks and the locking tab works and is good.  The pad has some
light pitting on the outside, but it spins freely.  For a tool that is
180 years old, this is a right fine example, and if you do Civil War
re-enacting wood working, this is the one to have in your kit.  $32.00

Heller Bros Blacksmith Farrier Ball Jaw Tongs.  Measuring 15 1/4" long,
the jaws are 1 1/8" deep, 1 1/4" wide, and this weighs 1 lb 8 1/2 oz
unboxed.  This is one of the older ones that was forged, the later ones
were cast.  This is in decent condition and was cleaned. There is some
overall patina but it ain't like nobody bought this tool just to admire
how pretty it was.  The jaws are good other than some dings on the tips
and edges.  The joint has a bit of wiggle but it ain't gonna fall
apart.  The handles are good, although somebody spread them a bit for a
better grip.  These ain't perfect but the Heller Bros reputation for
quality tools has stood the test of time.  $24.00

Tyzack Sons & Turner No 131 8 Inch Gentleman's Brass Back Dovetail Saw.
Measuring 12 13/16" overall, the blade is 8" long, 1 9/16" high (from
the teeth to the start of the back), this is sharpened to 15 PT (14 TPI)
CC, and this weighs 5 1/4 oz unboxed. This is NOS (that's New Old Stock)
and was not cleaned. There is nothing to fuss about at all other than a
little bit of extra protective finish on the front of the blade and some
staining from the wax paper wrapper. The handle is good and pretty.
This is factory sharp and straight and they don't get any better than
this. This is the last of these guys in this shape that I have.  $24.00

Early Hand Forged Straight Peen Solid Handle Stagecoach Hammer.
Measuring 10 3/16" overall, the head is 3 7/8" long, the face is 1 3/16"
square, the peen is 1 3/16" high, and this weighs 2 lbs 4 oz unboxed.
Not signed as to the maker.  This is in decent condition for the age and
was cleaned.  There is the usual patina found on these kind of tools.
There is some mushrooming on the face and peen.  Note the visible
graining on the wrought iron handle.  That has a worn spot (these were
used sometimes as coupler pins) and is bent a little looking from the
side.  The end of the handle has some wear and pitting.  This guy does
show it's age but it is a very collectible old tool.  $18.00

L S Starrett Machinist No 39 Lock Joint 18 Inch Inside Calipers.
Measuring 18 7/8" from the tips to the top of the joint and this weighs
1 lb 7 1/2 oz unboxed.  This is in used but reasonably good condition
and was cleaned.  There ain't much in the way of patina to fuss about
other than a few small frosted and stained spots.  There is a shop
number deeply marked on the one left.  The joint is good and the locking
nut works.  The fine adjustment nut also works. This ain't pristine but
these bigger ones rarely are and this will get the job done.  $30.00

Stanley No 151 Adjustable Spokeshave or Spoke Shave.  This weighs 13 1/2
oz unboxed.  Made in Merry Olde England.  This is in reasonably good
condition and was cleaned.  The finish is original and about 85% with
some wear on the top of the one handle and a few spots on the back.  The
sole and mouth are good.  The cap is also good.  The blade has some
scuffs on the front and will need a quick touch up on the edge.  The
adjuster nuts work and travel the full distance and the cap and blade
screws also work and everything was oiled.  This ain't minty, but these
guys sure have been few and far between of late.  $40.00

Vacuum Base Double Jaw Bench Vise.  Measuring 4 3/8" high, the jaws are
2 1/2" and 1 1/2" wide, and this weighs 3 lbs 15 1/4 oz unboxed.  Not
signed as to the maker, but it was made in Taiwan. This is in reasonably
good condition and was not cleaned.  There is a little light patina on
the tops of the jaws and the anvil face but nothing too.  The jaws are
all good and the main screw travels smoothly.  The locking screw that
rotates the jaws also works just fine.  The base has some light staining
but this guy holds tight on my Formica covered desk here.  This ain't
got a fancy pedigree but it will get the job done.  $25.00

Unusual Hand Forged Raising Hammer.  Measuring 12 5/8" overall, the head
is 5 3/8" long, the faces are 1 1/2" wide, and this weighs 15 1/2 oz
unboxed.  Not signed as to the maker.  This is in fair condition and was
cleaned.  There is some pitting on the head.  The one face has some
chipping, the other one just some light patina. The handle is recent
(not my doings) but it's good and the head is on tight.  This ain't
pristine but I sure ain't seen too many made like this one is.  Just
saying.  $25.00

Stanley No 12 6 Inch Try Square. This weighs 8 3/4 oz unboxed.  This is
in reasonably good condition, the only cleaning was to pretty up the
machined surfaces on the handle.  The blade has some scuffs to the
finish, and a few spots of light rust but it's clean for the most part.
The edges and corners are crispy.  The handle is good as well.  This is
true according to my reference square. This ain't perfect but it sure
ain't bad and it is a quality tool.  $18.00

Hand Forged Early Blacksmith Drift Punch Head.  Measuring 6 5/8" long,
the tip is 7/16" in diameter, increasing to about 3/4", and this weighs
2 lbs 3/4 oz unboxed.  Not signed as to the maker.  This is in decent
condition and was cleaned.  There is some patina going but nothing too
bad.  The tip has a little mushrooming and is slightly bent, but if you
know a good blacksmith, I'm sure that he could fix that right up.  The
striking end had some mushrooming removed before this got here.  There
are a couple of tiny checks around the edge but nothing that travels to
the face.  The punched eye is good to go.  This ain't minty but it will
get the job done. $18.00

Early Hand Forged Blacksmith 1 1/2 lb Cross Peen Hammer Head. Measuring
4 1/16" long, the face is roughly 1 3/16" squarer, the peen is 1 1/2"
wide, and this weighs 1 lb 7 3/4 oz unboxed.  Not signed as to the
maker.  This is in decent condition and was cleaned.  This does show
it's age a bit.  You can see where the steel face was forge welded to
the iron body but it's not cracked. The face has some dings and a few
small chips off of the edge.  The peen has a little mushrooming but that
is good.  The punched eye is good, there is a scratch at the rear on the
underside but it's not cracked.  This ain't pretty or perfect but for
the age of the tool, well it sure ain't bad and I have seen works.  Just
saying.  $19.00

Small Early Hand Forged No 00 Cobblers Lasting Pliers.  Measuring 5
13/16" long, the jaws are 1/4" wide at the tips, and this weighs 5 oz
unboxed.  The mark is partial but I think that it is Etheridge, and
London.  I can't find anything on this maker.  This is in decent
condition and was cleaned.  There is a little patina but nothing tool
bad.  The teeth on the jaws are worn right at the tips but they are good
after that and the jaws close up tight.  The hammer poll is good.  The
joint has a little wiggle but the handles are good.  This ain't perfect
but this is not a common size for one of these guys. $24.00

was lightly cleaned.  There are a few small frosting and stained spots
on the front.  The back also has a few dots.  All the rulings are
readable and the edges and corners are crispy.  This ain't minty perfect
but it's pretty darn close and it is a quality tool.  $15.00

Early Hand Forged Fireplace Trammel Chain.  Measuring 3 ft 11 1/2 inches
long and this weighs 4 lbs 8 3/4 oz unboxed.  Not signed as to the
maker.  This is in decent condition and was cleaned.  There is some
overall patina but that is normal with items like this.  The hooks are
all good with no wear in the center.  The hand forged chain links are
also good with no cracked or open weld lines.  This ain't the fanciest
one I've had but it is a solid and well made piece.  $50.00

overall, the blade is 5 9/16" long, the lower one is a 5/8" gouge, 9
1/4" overall, the blade is 6" long (down the center), and they weigh 6
3/4 oz unboxed.  These are in reasonably good condition and were
cleaned.  Both of them have some staining and a few spots of frosting
but nothing too bad.  The tangs are good.  These will need handles, but
I'm sure that you can figure that out.  And NO, these ain't HSS,
although according to some folks it's wonder how people worked on lathes
for hundreds of years without HSS tools. Just saying.  These ain't
perfect but they are quality tools with a lot of life left in them.  $18.00

condition and were cleaned.  There are some light flaws on a couple of
the faces and some light wear but nothing too bad.  The handles are all
good.  This ain't pristine but these brass ones are sure getting few and

nothing too bad.  The jaws are good other than a little wear.  The joint

some small stained spots.  All the rulings are readable.  The back also
has some spots and there are a couple of lightly scratched names on the

Early Hand Forged Farriers Claw Hammer.  Measuring 11 9/16" overall, the
head is 4 1/8" long, the face is 9/16" square, the claws are 1" wide
across the tips, and this weighs 8 1/4 oz unboxed.  There is a mark on
the back of the eye but it's nothing that I can read.  This is in decent
condition and was cleaned.  There is some overall pitting and patina.
The face was dressed prior to this getting here and is good other than a
wee bit of mushrooming around the edge. The claws are good and are
thick.  The handle is old and might be the original one.  That has the
usual stains and wear and there is a small charred spot at the end.

in decent condition and was cleaned.  There are some spots of light
pitting and frosting on both sides of the blade but the edge is good and
was never messed with.  The shaft is fairly good and the tang is also

S T D Clark Patent 1887 Brace Countersink Bit.  Measuring 4 1/4" long,
the head is 7/8" in diameter, and this weighs 2 1/4 oz unboxed.  Hiram
Clark of Syracuse, NY was granted Pat. No. 358,731 on Mar. 1, 1887 for
the design of this tool.  This was made by the Syracuse Twist Drill Co.
who was a Syracuse NY toolmaker in business from 1878 until 1920.  This
is in reasonably good condition and was cleaned.  This still has some of
the original plating.  There are few spots of patina.  The edges will
need a quick sharpening.  The screw removes and the joint works which is
how you sharpen this guy. The tang has a few dings and lightly stamped
user initials.  This ain't pristine but it's better than most of these
that I see. $18.00

Early Hand Ruled Small Carpenters Framing Square.  Measuring 12" long,
8" high, and this weighs 10 oz unboxed.  Not signed as to the maker,
just marked 10 at the joint.  To my some what educated eye, this looks
like it was cut down from a larger square and the one end angled for a
miter cut.  This is in decent condition and was cleaned.  There is some
overall light patina, including some pitting, frosting, and staining,
but nothing really too bad, considering the age of this guy.  The edges
are good but the corners have a little wear.  This is reasonably true
according to my reference square here, but if you want Starrett
accuracy, well that's whatcha gotta buy.  This is a neat early square
that is working and in collectible condition.  $25.00

jaws are 1 15/16" deep, 5/16" wide at the tips, and this weighs 1 lb 1
3/4 oz unboxed.  Not signed as to the maker.  This is in decent
condition and was cleaned.  There is the usual patina found on these
guys.  The tips of the jaws are bent down a little by design.  The jaws
are good.  The joint is also good with no play at all.  The handles have
that paddle like treatment on the end which is kinda neat.  These sure
ain't for knocking out horseshoes, but for small items they will do just
fine.  $27.00

Early Wood Handle Chopper Hand Forged From A File.  Measuring 12 3/8"
overall, the head is 8 1/8" long, the blade is 4 1/16" across, and this
weighs 7 3/4 oz unboxed.  Not signed as to the maker.  This originally
was mounted on board or block with a eye pin and a rivet or bolt, but
that is long gone.  This is in decent condition and was cleaned.  There
is some overall patina on the blade and head area. The edge has some
tiny dings and would need a sharpening.  The oak handle has a couple of

around.  $17.00

and this weighs 3 1/2 oz unboxed.  Joseph Whiting of Montrose PA was
granted Pat. No. 392,388 on Nov 6, 1888 for the design of this tool.
This is in reasonably good condition and was not cleaned.  There are a
few small spots of rust but nothing worth kicking the cat over.  The
face and notches are good.  The striking end has a whisker of
mushrooming.  All in all this is a right good and very collectible old
saw setting tool.  $20.00

Stanley 3 oz Ball Peen Hammer.  Measuring 9 15/16" overall, the head is
2 1/2" long, the face is 9/16" in diameter, the peen is 7/16" in
diameter, and this weighs 4 1/4 oz unboxed.  This is in reasonably good
condition and was cleaned.  The head has a little wear to the finish.
The peen has some light dings but nothing too bad and the peen is good.
The handle is the original one.  That has the usual dings and stains but
it's solid and the head is on tight, at least setting here.  This ain't
minty but it will get the job done. $18.00

is 1/16" in diameter, the dimple is little over 3/16", and this weighs 9

body including some scuff marks left over from when this was made.  The
post hole and dimple are good.  The striking end is also good with just
a hint of mushrooming.  This ain't fancy but it will get the job done.

1 lb 3 1/2 oz unboxed.  Not signed as to the maker. This is in decent
condition and was cleaned.  The body was never finished off real pretty
like to start with.  The one face has some light dings and frosting but
nothing too bad.  The other one has a few deeper dings and one on the
edge that has pushed up a little mushrooming.  The punched eye is good.
This ain't got no fancy pedigree but it is both a working and a very
collectible tool. $28.00

Amidon & Bastedo Buffalo NY Patented Corner Brace.  Measuring 21 1/4"
long and this weighs 3 lbs 12 1/2 oz unboxed.  Charles H. Amidon of
Buffalo, NY was granted Pat. No. 226,646 on Apr. 20, 1880 and Pat. No.
298,542 on May 13, 1884 for the design of this tool. Charles H. Amidon
and Walter Bastedo made braces in Buffalo NY from 1887 until 1892.  This
is in decent condition and was not cleaned. There is some overall patina
but nothing too bad.  The chuck is good as are the jaws.  There is no
spring in the jaws, but that is how they were made.  The joint is good.
The grip is good other than a small hole in it, the other one is cracked
and has a repair with a nail.  The pad has some checking where it meets
the frame but it's on tight.  This ain't minty by any stretch, but
considering it is at the least, 127 years old, well it ain't all that
bad, and braces by this maker are not very common to start with.  $32.00

adjustment nut.  This also has the knob that gets screwed in to a wooden
beam to act as a spinner.  There are also tip protectors and and
envelope with some replacement tips.  The box has some wear but it's
solid.  These ain't fancy but they are quality tools.  $32.00

Vintage Cast Iron Coopers Bung Auger.  Measuring 11 1/4" overall, the
lead drill is 9/16" in diameter, the auger is 1 7/16" in diameter at the
top, the handle is 8 3/4" wide, and this weighs 14 1/2 oz unboxed.  Not
signed as to the maker.  This is in decent condition and was cleaned.
The drill has some light pitting and some funky up under the spurs but
they are sharp and the lead screw is also good.  There is some frosting
and light pitting on the auger.  The edge has a few tiny dings but that
is fairly sharp. There is some rusting inside the auger.  The red finish
on the head is gone.  The handle is the original one.  That has some
stains and dings but it's solid.  The screw at the top removes but the
handle itself does not come out.  This ain't minty but as these guys go,
well it sure ain't bad either.  $24.00

J W Mix 7/8 Inch Wheelwright Corner Chisel.  Measuring 10" from the edge
to the end of the socket, the blade is 6 7/16" long, this is 14 3/8"
overall, and this weighs 1 lb 4 1/2 oz unboxed.  One of these days we
will figure out the relationship between J W and G I Mix and the working
dates but right now it's still speculative.  This is in reasonably good
condition and was cleaned by someone else.  The backs have some dings,
spots of frosting, a few dots of pitting, and some staining, but nothing
too bad at all.  The edge is good and fairly sharp.  The insides have
user initials down by the socket and a wee bit of the original gold
paint.  The socket is good and was never struck.  The handle is old and
could be the orignal one.  That is good other than some stains and a
small hanging hole at the end. This ain't 100% minty but it sure ain't
bad either and the Mix brand has stood the test of time as far as
quality goes.  $45.00

wide across the edge, and this weighs 1 1/4 oz unboxed.  Not signed as
to the maker.  This is in reasonably good condition and was cleaned.
There ain't much in the way of patina to fuss about other than some
staining.  The front edge is good, the side edge could stand a quick
touch-up.  The tang is good other than a little bit of mushrooming.
These guys sure ain't been showing up much of late, at least around
these here parts.  $15.00

Old Round Face Riveting Hammer.  Measuring 11 3/4" overall, the head is
6 1/2" long, the faces are 3/8" and 7/16" in diameter, and this weighs
15 1/2 oz unboxed.  Not signed as to the maker.  This is in reasonably
good condition and was cleaned by someone else.  There is a little
patina on the head but nothing too bad.  Both faces were dressed and are
ready to go.  The handle is a good replacment and the head is on tight,
at least setting here.  This is not a very common hammer, at least in
this condition.  $20.00

Vintage Slater Slate Roofing Hammer.  Measuring 11" overall, the head is
7 5/16" long, the face is 11/16" in diameter, and this weighs 1 lb 2 1/2
oz unboxed.  Not signed as to the maker, there are user initials pin
punched on the shaft.  This is in reasonably good condition and was
cleaned.  There ain't much in the way of patina on the head and shaft.
The face is good and the punch end isn't shaving sharp, but it's not too
bad.  The one nail claw has a little chipping on the inside at the
edge.  The breaker edge along the shaft has a few tiny dings.  The
stacked leather washer handle has some dings on the back but it's
solid.  I tried the nut but it didn't want to move.  This ain't perfect
but compared to most of these guys, well this one sure ain't bad.  $30.00
