First run of goods for the month of December. I ain't sure where the
year has gone (still working on August in my head) but you will have
this. The weather has been cold and the flea markets (what few there
are) have been even colder but I have come into some good items as
always. Collectibles and user tools for all trades abound.
PayPal is now accepted and preferred (if you use it) on all items. On
items less than $25 (not including shipping) I would appreciate you
using the Send Money to Family & Friends option so I don't get killed
with the fees but that is your call. Checks and money orders are still
welcome, it just seems that 1st Class letters seem to be taking forever
to get from there to here.
And remember........da more ya buy, the cheaper they fly!
First contact (that is e-mail, or phone) that says I want it gets it.
Oldtools terms, except on items and orders over $100, if I don't know ya
or haven't done business in the past (and my records good way back..)
then it's pre-pay. I do take PayPal (except as noted). Prices do not
include shipping. All items are shipped with Delivery Confirmation.
Insurance, unless it is a big order or a very fragile item is optional.
Just let me know. Also, I am shipping a lot more stuff via First Class
mail. There will be a small amount added to the shipping cover the cost
of the padded mailer. I don't get them for free.
Please put your name and address in the message. Saves time and email
traffic!

Early Hand Forged Blacksmith Square Hole Drift Punch Head Working Anvil
Tool READ
Early Hand Forged Blacksmith Square Hole Drift Punch Head. Measuring 6"
long, the punch is about 1/2" square at the tip, 1 1/16" square before
the eye, and this weighs 2 lbs 4 3/4 oz unboxed. Not signed as to the
maker. This is in decent condition overall and was cleaned. There is
some overall pitting (obviously from too many decades setting out in a
barn). The tip of the punch is broken off a little but it wasn't much
longer to start with. The striking end has some mushroom and I did zing
down a few sharp spots. The eye has some crusty inside. This ain't no
picture of perfection but these guys sure don't show up very often to
start with. $17.00

Early Hand Forged Mortising Axe Head With Issues Collectible Old Tool READ
Early Hand Forged Mortising Axe Head With Issues. Measuring 8 1/4" long
(across the center), the edge is 1 1/2" high (straight across), and this
weighs 3 lbs 6 1/4 oz unboxed. Not signed as to the maker. This is in
fair condition overall and was cleaned. There is the usual patina on
the head. There is some carnage on the poll, there is a piece that has
broken out and the eye is cracked. I did take down a couple of very
sharp spots on the sides of the poll. This ain't going to be a user (not
without some serious blacksmith intervention) but still is a collectible
early tool and well all the good ones I see around here anymore are
priced at least twice what I'm asking for this guy. $25.00

Bluwin By Irwin No 3 3/16 Inch Brace Auger Bit. Measuring 6 7/16" long,
the cut is 3/16" in diameter, and this weighs 1/2 oz unboxed. The mark
is a bit faint but I figured it out. This is in reasonably good
condition overall and was not cleaned. There are a few light spots of
patina on the spiral. The spurs and lead screw feel sharp to the
touch. The tang is good other than a little wear to the edges. This
ain't minty but it sure ain't bad and it is a hard to find size for this
make of bit, especially if you are filling out a set. $14.00

Uncommon Krebs 1868 Patent Woodworking Countersink Brace Bit. Measuring
4 1/2" long, the head is 13/16" in diameter, and this weighs 1 1/2 oz
unboxed. Charles Krebs of West Springfield, MA was granted Pat. No.
77,819 on May 12, 1868 for the design of this tool. There looks to be a
maker's mark on the tang but it's too faint to read. This is in
reasonably good condition and was cleaned. The head is good other than
some light roughness under the blades and that looks like it was there
when it left the factory. The edges could stand a quick sharpening but
they aren't too bad as is. The shaft is clean and the tang is good other
than a little wear. I gotta say that these guys do not up very often.

Old Forged Cross Peen Hammer. Measuring 11 5/8" overall, the head is 4
11/16" long, the face is 11/16" in diameter, the peen is 1" wide, and
this weighs 15 oz unboxed. Not signed as to the maker. This is in
reasonably good condition and was cleaned. There ain't much in the way
of patina on the head. The face has some light dings and one small chip
off of the edge. The peen is good. the eye looks good other than some
scuff marks on the top. The handle is old but I can't say that it's
original to the tool. That has some stains, dings, and user initials
scratch marked on the back, but it's solid. I did tap the wedge in a
little and the head is on tight setting here but things do loosen up in
shipping. This is a neat looking hammer and one that will get the job
done. $20.00

Stanley No 4 Type 19 Smooth Or Smoothing Plane. This weighs 3 lbs 7 oz
unboxed. This is a Type 19 and was made by Stanley between 1948 and
1961, although this one does look to have been made early in the run.
This is in reasonably good condition and was cleaned. Note this is
straight, any bending you see is because of camera lens distortion,
although why folks would think that I would sell a bent plane is beyond
me. The sides are good. The sole is clean other than some scratch
marks right at the front of the mouth. The japanning is original and
close to perfect. The lever cap does have some tiny spots on it and is
missing a little plating on the one corner. The chipbreaker has a
little frosting but nothing too bad. The blade is clean other than some
light patina on the back. The cutting face is clean other than some
scuffs and there is lots there to work with. The blade will need a
sharpening. The tote and knob are nicely colored and have almost all of
the original finish plus a coat of wax. The tote is good and solid.
The knob has some dings and one spot where there is a void in the grain
but it's also solid. All the screws work and were oiled. This ain't
pristine but it sure ain't bad and I have seen worse. $60.00

Five Gimlet Tip Bits For A Brace or Bitstock. The upper one is a 4,
(these are in 32nds of a inch increments in cause you were asleep in
class that day in first grade), the next one is a 5, the next one is a
6, next is a 7, the last one is a 10, and they weigh 4 oz unboxed.
These are in used but good condition and were not cleaned. There ain't
much in the way of patina other than a little staining. The edges feel
good but that doesn't mean that they won't need a touch-up. None of
these are notched for a bitstock but that is easy enough to do. It sure
ain't getting any easier to put these sets together. $24.00

Early Disston 12 Inch Sliding Adjustable Bevel Square. The blade is 11
7/8" long, the handle is 6 15/16" high, and this weighs 5 oz unboxed.
Not signed as to the maker, but the fancy screw head marks this as a
Disston product. This is in reasonably good condition and was cleaned,
at least by me. The blade has some staining and some light spots of
frosting and patina but it still has most of the original bluing. The
edges are good. The rosewood handle has some dings and light wear but
that also has most of the original finish. The locking screw does it's
job as well as the day it was made. This ain't minty but as these guys
go, this sure ain't bad, and 12" bevel squares aren't all that common by
any maker. $20.00

Original Stillman Non Patent Sawset Or Saw Set. Measuring 6 5/8" long
and this weighs 4 1/4 oz unboxed. Abel Stillman of Poland, NY was
granted the first US patent for a sawset in 1848 which which was copied
and made by a lot of makers, but this model he never patented and was
made by him alone, at least with the brass jaw clamp. This is in
reasonably good condition and was cleaned. The arm has some spots of
staining and a little frosting but nothing too bad. The brass jaw clamp
is good with no cracks (a common problem with these guys). The jaw has
some light wear on the tips. The walnut handle is original and good
other than some stains and a few light dings. All the screws work and
were oiled. This ain't pristine but for a tool that is easily over 160
years old, well it sure ain't bad. $18.00

long, the edge on the hatchet is 1 13/16" high (straight across), and
this weighs 10 oz unboxed. This is in used but good condition and was
cleaned. There ain't much in the way of patina to fuss about other than
a few light spots on the head and some staining. The hammer poll has
some light dings. The edge on the hatchet also has a few dings and will
need a sharpening. Both the nail claws and the internal nail puller are
good. This ain't minty but considering the use these tools had, well
this one sure ain't bad. $18.00

This is in good condition and was not cleaned. The figures are all good
and crisp. The locking tabs are also good and the striking end shows no
wear at all. These guys don't show up very often in this kind of shape

Dieztgen Ideal 36 Inch Tape Measure. This weighs 1 1/4 oz unboxed. This
is in good condition and was not cleaned. There are some light scuffs

retracts. This is a neat little rule and one that doesn't show up very
often by this maker. $17.00

the post hole is 1/8" in diameter, the dimple is 3/16", and this weighs
3 1/2 oz unboxed. Not signed as to the maker. This is in decent
condition overall and was cleaned. There are some spots of patina on
the body. The face is good other than some light pitting and both holes
are good as well. The striking end is also good with no mushrooming or

good condition and was cleaned. There ain't much in the way of patina
other than some staining and a few spots of frosting. The edge is
good. The striking button has a few dings but it's solid with no
cracks. This is a quality and collectible tool that is ready to work.

in reasonably good condition and was not cleaned. The finish is original
and 90% plus present. This has the patent dates on the front of the head
(faint but they are there) and most of the decal. The anvil and plunger
tip are good. Both screws work. This ain't minty but as these guys go,

is, but it will get the job done. $24.00

Early Hand Forged Denglestock PA Dutch Scythe Sharpening Anvil &
Hammer. The denglestock is 7 1/8" long, the face is 1 1/4" wide, the
hammer is 8 5/8" overall, the head is 3 1/2" long, the face is roughly
1" square, the peen is 1 3/16" wide, and this all weighs 2 lbs 3/4 oz
unboxed. Not signed as to the maker. Now what's a denglestock (also
spelled dengelstock and a bunch of other ways as well), you ask? Well
them old PA Dutch (German) farmers, being of a thrifty (also know as
cheap) bunch, instead of grinding down their scythe blades, would stick
the denglestock into a stump or the top of a fence post and using a
cross peen hammer (called the dengle of all things) would draw out the
edge of the blade till it was sharp and then dress it with a stone.
Pretty neat eh? This is in reasonably good condition and was cleaned.
The denglestock has the usual patina on the body but nothing too bad for
the age. The face has a few dots of pitting and dings but that is good
as is the spike end. The face on the hammer has a few chips on the
corners and one ding but it's clean for the most part. The peen is good
to go. The handle is in fair condition with some slices off othe end on
both sides and some dings and staining. The head is on tight thanks to
a bunch of nails. I gotta say that it's sure getting hard to find these
guys with the hammer and in this kind of overall shape. $45.00

Stanley SW No 6C Type 13 Fore Plane. This weighs 6 lbs 6 oz unboxed.
This is a Type 13 and was made by Stanley between 1925 and 1928. This
is in decent condition and was cleaned. Note this is straight, any
bending you see is because of camera lens distortion, although why folks
would think that I would sell a bent plane is beyond me. The sides have
some frosting and some areas of light pitting. There are user initials
lightly scratch marked on the one side and he also pin-punched them on
the face of the frog. The sole also has some frosting and light stuff.
The japanning is original and is 75% plus present. The lever cap has
some light frosting but no chips on the edge. The chipbreaker has some
frosting and spots of light pitting. The blade is a replacement, the
original SW blade was ground down close to the slot. There is some
light patina on the exposed areas and the back. The cutting face has
some frosting and light stuff but nothing too bad and there is lots
there to work with. The blade will need a sharpening. The tote has a
sliver off of the horn and some dings. The knob also has some dings but
they are solid with no cracks. All the screws work and were oiled.
This ain't no thing of beauty but it will get the job done. $70.00.

ain't perfect but it's better than it was. The face on the set hammer
has a few small dings, some light pitting, and wear. Both of the
striking ends have some mushrooming and chipping around the bloom. I

some light dings and is slightly crowned from use. Somebody ground down
the peen to an edge and that is a little rough, but that could be

back and some overall frosting but that will work out as this is
sharpened. The front also has some patina going. The gouge has some
light spots on the inside of the sweep but the back is fairly good other
than some frosting. Both will need a sharpening. The handles look to be
the original ones. They both have some dings and stains and the brass
ferrule on the gouge has a split, but they are solid. These ain't

condition and was cleaned. There ain't much in the way of patina to
fuss about. The jaws are good. The joint has little wiggle to it but

and this weighs 1 lb 13 1/2 oz unboxed. The Smith and Holtum

decent condition overall and was cleaned. The face of the body was
plated originally and that is worn in spots. There are also some spots
of light pitting and scratches. The edges are good (the end edges were
rounded at the factory). Inside the body there is some patina and
rusting but that was never plated. The handle has some stains but it's
solid and on tight. I did not mess with the screws. This ain't

good with just some light dings and one tiny chip off of the edge. The
peen has some roughness and a little mushrooming on the underside. The
handle looks to be the original one. That has a check under the eye, a
little roughness on the one side, some chipping at the end and a split

Early Hand Forged Cobblestone Mason Hammer Head. Measuring 9 11/16"
long, the peen is 2 11/16" wide (at the widest spot), and this weighs 1
lb 10 1/4 oz unboxed. Not signed as to the maker, there are user
initials on the one side of the face. This in decent condition and was
cleaned. There is the usual patina overall. The face does have some
mushrooming and there are a couple of sharp spots on the underside. The
peen edge is also dinged up with a couple of mushroomed spots. The
punched eye is good. This ain't perfect but this is a tool that got
used long and hard and they sure don't show up much at all any more. $25.00

Early Hand Forged Millwright Mill Pick Head. Measuring 5 7/8" long, the
edges are 1 3/8" wide, 15/16" high at the eye, and this weighs 1 lb 1
1/4 oz unboxed. Not signed as to the maker. This is in decent
condition and was cleaned. There is some light pitting on the top and
sides and some deeper spots on the undersides of the edges. The edges
have some dings but they are fairly good. The punched eye is good other
than a little scuffing and a couple of light saw marks from a previous
handle job. This ain't minty but these guys are sure few and far
between any more, at least around these here parts. $22.00

Silversmith Planishing Hammer Head. Measuring 4 9/16" long, the one
face is 1 3/16" wide, 5/8" high, the other face is 1 11/16" wide, a
little over 3/4" high, and this weighs 14 1/2 oz unboxed. Not signed as
to the maker, just marked W Germany. This is in reasonably good
condition and was cleaned. This was originally painted with some kind
of silver finish and that is worn a bit but there is nothing much patina
wise on the body besides that. Both faces are good other than some
light dings. This ain't perfect but this size of planishing hammer does
not show up very often. $38.00

Vintage Heller Bros Carpenters Claw Hammer. Measuring 12 1/4" overall,
the head is 4 7/8" long (straight across), the face is 7/8" in diameter,
the claws are 1 5/16" wide across the tips, and this weighs 1 lb 7 3/4
oz unboxed. This is in reasonable condition for the age and use and was
cleaned. The head is good, there is a little frosting and some scuffs
left over from when it was made but nothing too bad patina wise. The
face has some light dings. The claws have a little chipping along the
inside edges but they aren't all blown out. The eye looks good with no
cracks that I can see. The handle is fair and might be the original
one. That has a check under the eye and some dings, stains, some
chipping at the end, and a few tiny bits of paint down in the grain.
The head is on tight thanks to an assortment of wedges in there. This
ain't minty but the Heller name has stood for quality for a long time.

Vintage Stanley No 12 4 Inch Improved Try Square. Measuring 5 1/8"
overall, the blade is 4" long, this is 3 7/16" high, and this weighs 4
1/2 oz unboxed. This is a Type 3 which was made by Stanley for a long
time. This is in decent condition overall and was cleaned. The one side
of the blade has one area of light pitting and a few dots and frosting,
the other side is fairly clean. The rulings are readable on both sides
but they are very faint. the edges and corners are good. The machined
areas of the handle are good other than a user name stamped on the back
and end. The plating on the inside of the handle has some light crusty
but most of it is there. This is true according to my reference square
here. This ain't minty but this is not a commonly found size for one of
these guys. $19.00

beam is 21 3/4" long, 1 1/16" wide, 15/16" high, the head is 5 9/16"
wide, 2 15/16" high, and this weighs 1 lb 5 3/4 oz unboxed. Not signed
as to the maker. This is reasonably good condition and was cleaned but
it will need some work. The beam is straight but it does have a slight
twist to it. The tote style handle is also good other than a small chip
off of the horn. The handle does come off the tool and will need to be
re-wedged but that will make the shipping a little easier. The head has
a little chipping around the beam mortise on the back but the sole is
good and the screw works. This will need, the blade and blade wedge, the
shoe between the beam and the head, and circular piece that goes inside
the head between the shoe and the end of the screw. This will need some
work but this is a handy and collectible tool. $24.00

Jackson Bros Pittsburgh PA Wood Handle Tack Lifter. Measuring 7 3/16"
long, the claws are a little under 1/2" wide across the tips, and this
weighs 2 1/2 oz unboxed. The Jackson Bros were a Pittsburgh PA tool
maker, mainly mason's tools but they did make others. This is in
reasonably good condition and was cleaned by someone else. There isn't
much in the way of patina. The claws are bent a little at the tips but
they are good otherwise. The wooden handle does have a thin check on
the one side but the blade is in tight. I gotta say that I sure don't
see too many tools around by this maker. $17.00

Big Vintage Wood Cabinetmakers C-Clamp. The body is 13" long (outside),
8 1/2" high, inside it's 9" across, the throat is 5" deep, and this
weighs 2 lbs 11 oz unboxed. Not signed as to the maker. This is in
reasonably good condition and was not cleaned. There is the usual patina
but nothing too bad. There are a couple of checks showing on the joints
but this is solid. The screw was replaced at some point, there are 2
holes but the other one is a small diameter. The hole was drilled at a
little bit of an angle so the screw isn't exactly parallel with the
body. The threads have a few dings but the screw is straight. I gotta
say that I haven't seen too many of these guys around of late and rarely
are they in this kind of shape. $24.00

Vintage Ice Axe Or Hatchet. Measuring 11 11/16" overall, the head is 9"
long (across the center), the edge is 1 11/16" high (straight across),
and this weighs 1 lb 8 oz unboxed. Not signed as to the maker. This is
in reasonably good condition and was cleaned. It arrived here with a
user applied coat of red paint on most of the head and since you never
know what that is hiding, I took that off. There are a few spots where
it didn't want to come off. The blade area is clean other a little
frosting down on the lower end on both sides. The body has some
roughness but that was left over from when this was made. The spike is
good. The handle looks to be the original one. That is good other than
a few spots along the front where some slivers have lifted out of the
grain and the head is on tight. I gotta say that this is not a very
common size to find one of these tools in and getting one in this kind
of shape is a real find. $50.00

Early Hand Forged Stone Or Brick Mason Hammer. Measuring 11 3/4"
overall, the head is 8 1/2" long, the face is roughly 7/8" square, the
peen is 1 1/16" wide, and this weighs 1 lb 12 oz unboxed. Not signed
as to the maker. This is in reasonably good condition for the age and
use and was cleaned. This had been cleaned previously and there are
some scuff marks on the body from that. The face was also dressed.
There are some stuffs and a few light dings but that is good to go. I
did run a file over some sharp spots around the edge. The peen is dulled
but that could be fixed if you want it sharp. The handle is old but
solid and the head is on tight. That is warped a little towards the
back. This ain't perfect but this is a solid and well crafted early
tool. $22.00

1/4 oz unboxed. This is in used but good condition and was not
cleaned. The blade has a few lightly stained spots and the bluing is
worn a little but nothing too bad. The edges and corners are good. The
handle has the original finish. There is a little funky on the brass
under the finish. The locking lever is bent a little but that happens
with these larger ones and it does it's job. This ain't pristine but it
sure ain't bad and these bigger ones are sure getting harder to find in
this kind of shape. $20.00

Stanley Rule & Level No 103 Block Plane. This weighs 12 1/2 oz
unboxed. This has the B casting mark on the body which shows up on
tools made by Stanley between 1899 and 1902. This is in decent
condition and was cleaned. Note this is straight, any bending you see
is because of camera lens distortion, although why folks would think
that I would sell a bent plane is beyond me. The sole has some
scratches and a few light spots of pitting but nothing too bad. The
japanning is original, it's worn on on the side, on the other side and
inside the body it's good other than a few bits of paint. The finish on
the cap is worn but the thumb wheel is good. The blade has some light
patina on the front and some frosting on the cutting face but there is
lots there to work with. The blade will need a sharpening. The depth
lever works and was oiled. This ain't pristine but then planes that are
over 115 years old rarely are. $20.00

to the top of the handle, the blade is 5 11/16" long, this is 11 15/16"
overall, and this weighs 2 1/4 oz unboxed. The mark is faint but I
figured it out. This is in reasonably good condition for the age of the
tool and was cleaned. The first 1/2 of the back is good other than a
few stained spots, after that there are a few dots of pitting and some
staining. The front is good save for some frosting. The handle has
stamped user initials and a little wear and staining on the striking end
but it's solid. This ain't perfect but Charles Buck edge tools were
considered to be the best of their day. $20.00

as to the maker. This is in reasonably good condition and was cleaned.
The blade has some light patina on both sides. I did put a new edge on
as it was chipped but that could stand a little fine tuning. The handle

Early Wood Chairmakers Pad Brace Or Bitstock. Measuring 13 3/8" long,
the sweep about is 8 1/2", the chuck opening is roughly 11/16" square,
the pad is 3 1/2" in diameter, and this weighs 1 lb 3 oz unboxed. Not
signed as to the maker. This is in reasonable condition for the age.
Somebody else refinished this guy, I just gave it a wipedown with some
wax. The body is good for the most part, there are some thin checks
there and here. The underside of the section that holds that pad has a
split that runs the full distance. That could be repaired without too
much loss of life. The chuck is good and is sheathed with copper. The
bits for these tool were mounted into blocks of wood called pads that
fit into the chuck, I didn't get any of those with this guy. The pad is
good, there is some play but that's to be expected. I have to say that
these tools are sure getting few and far between, and while this one
isn't perfect, it sure ain't bad either. $40.00

the peen is 2 1/16" wide, and this weighs 12 3/4 oz unboxed. Not signed
as to the maker, but the style and the decorative file work on the top
mark this as 18th Century. This is in decent condition and was
cleaned. There is some patina on the head but a lot of that was left
over from when this was made. The face has some dings and wear and
there is one small check on the back of the edge. The peen is good and
had some mushrooming cleaned off at some point. There is a visible
forge weld line on the one side between the face and the eye but it's
not cracked. The handle is a well crafted recent addition. The head
does wiggle a little but it ain't going to fall off. I have to say that

The handle is maple. That has a thin check under the ferrule, some
stains, dings, and one long gone worm hole. The blade tang goes all the
way though the handle and is peened over the end. This is a well made
older tool and is the right size for musket work and carrying in a

is lots of patina including some dings. The back is bent and the forge
weld line is starting to open up. I didn't test this to see if it would

removal the face. I have to say that these guys are sure getting few

maker. This is in decent condition and was cleaned. The blade has some
roughness on both sides left over from when this was made but it's
beveled on both sides so that won't be a problem. The edge will need a
quick touch up. One of the handles was replaced at some point in time,
they both have a couple of checks but they are on tight. There are the
usual stains as well. This ain't minty but it is neat early tool. $25.00

blade has some spots of light pitting and staining. The handle came off
of a regular turnscew (not my doings thank you!). That has some wear,
stains, dings, and somebody cut a cross onto both sides of the flat.

edge to the end of the socket, the blade is 8" long, this is 15 1/2"
overall, and they weigh 1 lb 2 oz unboxed. Karpenter was a brand name
used by the Winsted Edge Tool Company best known for the T H Witherby
brand of tools. Look it up. These are in reasonably good condition and
were cleaned. Note these are straight, any bending you see is because
of camera lens distortion. The back of the 1/4" has some light frosting
and a few spots of light pitting down by the socket but nothing too
bad. The back of the 1/2" is good save for a few very light dots. The
sides and tops of both have some small spots of patina. Both of the
edges do have chips and will need a good sharpening. The sockets have
some light pitting. The handles are the original ones. They have some
staining but are good to go. These ain't perfect but they are quality
tools with a lot of life left in them. $55.00

condition and was not cleaned. The machined front of the blade has some
coloration from being heat treated at the factory but nothing bad patina
wise. This is sharpened to a knife edge and that is good and sharp.
The back of the blade was never finished off pretty to start with. The
handle is good and has all of the original finish plus a coat of wax.
