lumber drying is to me just a step in the process. The stickering process in my
mind ensures relative straightness and flatness (no gaurantees)
, promotes air circulation and prevents mold.
But there is nothing in the stickering which would relieve inner compression/
tensions which might exist for example from timber cut from below large branches
or stresses built up around knots- these things may only be revealed on cutting
to size.
