A friend found a deer antler in her back yard and wanted to display it. She
asked me to make a base. I used some walnut and took the inspiration for the
shape from a pre-war boat halyard winch I have.

Very nice approach. Fresh and different.

Nice - simple and attractive, and lets the antler speak for itself. Did
you use a hanger bolt for the attachment?

Nice job on that Ed. It's unique, I like it! Of course, I would want to
use the tips for pressure flaking instead (for flint knapping)

I played with sizes and ended up with a 5/16” bolt that I cut the head off of.
It goes 2” down into the base and 2” up into the antler, with about an inch
exposed, glued to the base but not the antler.
