264002 Anthony Seo 2017‑11‑20 FS: Nocturnal November 2017 List B
The main flea season of 2017 is now in the books but there are still a
few places for picking. The weather is getting colder and soon the
white stuff will be a coming..ugh. Lots of fresh and old favorites in
this list.

PayPal is now accepted and preferred (if you use it) on all items. On
items less than $25 (not including shipping) I would appreciate you
using the Send Money to Family & Friends option so I don't get killed
with the fees but that is your call. Checks and money orders are still
welcome, it just seems that 1st Class letters seem to be taking forever
to get from there to here.

And remember........da more ya buy, the cheaper they fly!

First contact (that is e-mail, or phone) that says I want it gets it.
Oldtools terms, except on items and orders over $100, if I don't know ya
or haven't done business in the past (and my records good way back..)
then it's pre-pay. I do take PayPal (except as noted). Prices do not
include shipping. All items are shipped with Delivery Confirmation.
Insurance, unless it is a big order or a very fragile item is optional.
Just let me know. Also, I am shipping a lot more stuff via First Class
mail. There will be a small amount added to the shipping cover the cost
of the padded mailer. I don't get them for free.

Please put your name and address in the message. Saves time and email
traffic!

Fresh Pickings

Uncommon Stanley Rosewood No 85 1/2 Panel Marking Gauge Or Gage. The
beam is 20 1/2" long, the head is 7" wide, and this weighs 12 1/4 oz
unboxed. This isn't signed but Stanley wasn't real big on marking their
rosewood gauges. This is in good condition and was cleaned. The beam
has some light dings and stains and there is a well done hanging hole at
the end so you won't have to drill one yourself. The head is good other
than user initials stamped on the front. The point screw works and the
point does remove. That is bent a little but the tip is good. The
locking screw on the head does it's job. The brass shoe between the
head and the beam is a correct replacement. This ain't pristine but it
sure ain't bad and these guys do not show up very often. $100.00

L & I J White Buffalo No 2 Coopers Adze. Measuring 8 1/2" high, the
face is 1 3/8" high, 1 3/16" wide, the edge is 2 7/8" wide, the steel
cutting bit is 2 1/4" deep, and this weighs 3 lbs 4 oz unboxed. This is
in reasonably good condition for the age and use and was cleaned. The
top of the head has some light patina but nothing too bad. The
underside was never finished off real pretty like to start with. The
face is clean and good with no wear. The edge has a noticeable chip off
of the one corner and there are some smaller ones along the edge as
well. The steel bit has a few spots of light pitting. The socket is
good with no cracks. The handle has some chipping at the end and some
stains. The nut at the end does not want to come off (the READ part).
I soaked it with yea olde oil of penetration overnight but it don't want
to move. This ain't perfect but it's better than most of these that I
have been seeing. $50.00

AETCO 1/4 Inch Gouge Chisel Good Shape Working Tool

AETCO 1/4 Inch Gouge. Measuring 6 3/16" from the edge to the top of the
handle, the blade is 4 3/4" long, 1/4" wide across the inside of the
sweep, 5/16" across the outside, the sweep looks to be a No. 8, this is
10 15/16" overall, and this weighs 2 3/4 oz unboxed. The American Edge
Tool Company worked in or around the Philadelphia PA area, from the late
1940's until the early 1960's. This is in good condition and was
lightly cleaned. Inside the sweep is clean other than a couple of dots.
The back is also clean other than some scuffs way down where the paint
stains. The edge will need a little touchup. The handle is good and
the blade is in tight. This ain't the fanciest but it will get the job
done. $17.00

is 2 7/8" long, the face is 1" high, 3/4" wide, and this weighs 1 1/2 oz
unboxed. Not signed as to the maker. This is in used but reasonably
good condition and was not cleaned. There are some dings on the side of
the head. The face has a little chipping on the lower part of the edge
but it's good for the most part. The peen has some wear. The handle is
good. The head isn't glued in and does remove but that can be fixed
easily enough. This is the first one of these guys that I've had in a
long time. $18.00

Two Vintage Leather Stitching Awls. The upper one is unsigned, 5 1/8"
long, the lower one is an Arrow, measuring 6 9/16" long, and they weigh
2 1/2 oz unboxed. These are in good condition and were lightly cleaned.
The blade on the upper one has some staining but nothing too bad
patina wise. The brass ferrule does have a partial check. The handle
is good. The blade on the lower one has a few spots of frosting. The
chuck is good and was oiled. There ain't nothing much to fuss about
with the handle on this one either. I gotta say that finding a pair of
these guys in this condition is sure getting hard to do, at least around
these here parts. $19.00

Consolidated Tool Works No 310 10 Inch Sweep Brace. Measuring 14 1/8"
long and this weighs 2 lbs 6 1/2 oz unboxed. The Consolidated Tool
Works was in business from 1890 until the 1920's which puts this guy in
the 100 year old plus category. This is in decent condition and was
cleaned. There is some light pitting on the ratchet housing, the frame
is fairly clean. The chuck shell has some wear but the marks are
readable. The jaws are good, they never had a spring. The ratchet
works in both directions and the locked position. The grip is good
other than a few tiny dings and has most of the original finish. The
grip has some wear and there are few bits of paint there and here. The
screws look to be replacements. I did put some oil down inside the
collar. There is some play on the shaft. This ain't pristine but I
sure ain't seen too many of these guys that are. $24.00

Three Socket Chisels To Restore. The top one is an unsigned 1/8"
firmer, measuring 7 15/16" overall, the middle one is an unsigned 1/4"
bevel edge firmer measuring 8 9/16" overall, the lower one is an older
Craftsman 1/2" bevel edge firmer measuring 8 1/16" overall, and they
weigh 9 1/2 oz unboxed. These are in TO RESTORE condition. They were
cleaned to a degree but they will need some more work. The blade on the
1/8" has some frosting on the back but nothing too bad. The socket on
that one does have a deep chip off the edge and it's slightly oval
shaped. The 1/4" has some light pitting on the back and some deeper
stuff on the front. The socket has a little mushrooming on the inside.
The back of the 1/2" has some light pitting right at the edge but the
rest is fairly clean. The top and socket does have some light pitting.
The bottom line, things of beauty these guys ain't, but with some work
and handles, they will be working tools again. $27.00

patina and wear but nothing too bad for the most part. The long blade
on the last one has some light pitting on both sides. The pullers are
all good. These ain't pristine but they are a handy size for doing
detail work on small castings. $20.00

1/8", and this weighs 11 3/4 oz unboxed. Not signed as to the maker.
This is in reasonably good condition and was cleaned. The edge has a
few dings but it's close to sharp and won't take too much to get it
right. The welds connecting the blade to the handle ain't pretty but
they are solid. The striking end has some light dings but nothing
serious. This shape does not show up very often. $25.00

wide, 3/16" thick, and this weighs 1 3/4 oz unboxed. This is in decent
condition overall and was cleaned. The blade is good with nothing much
in the way of patina. The handle does have a deep check down the one
side under the ferrule. The blade is in tight with no help from me and
the handle is good otherwise. This ain't perfect but these guys sure
ain't been showing up much of late around these here parts. $20.00

Mahogany Wood Case Fine Sharpening Stone. The case is 8 15/16" long, 2
5/8" wide, 1 5/8" high, the stone is 7 15/16" long, 1 15/16" wide,
15/16" high, and this weighs 1 lb 14 oz unboxed. Not signed as to the
maker, there is a number and the word Fine scratched into the inside of
the case. This is in reasonably good condition and was cleaned. The
case looks to be mahogany. That is pieced and not made from a single
block. That has some stains and slurry residue on the inside but
nothing too bad. I did repair some spots on the lid where the joints
had opened. The fine stone does have a little wear in the center
looking from the side on the top but the underside is flat. The stone
is probably man made. This is what it is but it sure looks to be a good
setup at least to my eye. $25.00

The Newton File Co was a New Jersey based maker. These are NOS (New Old

one has 1/4" and 3/16" cuts, and they weigh 3 oz unboxed. Made in
Japan. These are in used but good shape. The only cleaning was to wipe
them down with some metal polish. The plating has some glazing and a
few spots on the ends where it's lifting a little. The cutters are good
and feel sharp to the touch. These ain't fancy and sure ain't top of
the line, but you ain't gonna get much more for this kind of money
either. $15.00

No. 4 is clean, the No. 6 has a few stained spots, and the edge on the

better quality tools. The arms are bent inward, why I can't say for
sure, except that somebody must have needed it like this. Stuff

the notches were cut through to the holes. The handle is a more recent
Skroo-zon brand file handle. That's what this came with and that's what
it's leaving with. That has some stains and a user initial. It does

that does not show up very often being made from an old file. $23.00

Planes Shaves & Chisels

Seven Greenfield Tool Co Skew Blade Hollows & Rounds. Left to right
there is a pair of No. 5 planes, the cut is 1/2" (measured straight
across the hollow), a pair of No. 11 planes, 7/8" cut, a pair of No. 13
planes, the cut is 15/16", a No. 9 round plane, and they weigh 5 lbs 15
oz unboxed. These are in reasonably good condition, the only cleaning I
did was to pretty up the irons. The bodies all have the same user name
stamped on the heel. The bodies are good for the most part, few dings,
scratches, and bits of paint but nothing too bad. The soles are good
also other than some dings. The No. 11 hollow has a couple of thin
checks behind the mouth. All the mouths are good and were never futzed
with. The heels have some hammer dings. The wedges are all good other
than some light dings. The irons have some light patina down at the
edges on the cutting faces, nothing too deep, and they look to be close
to, if not the original length. Some of the edges could stand a touch
up. American made skew hollow and round planes aren't nearly as common
as the English ones and a set like this, while not complete, is a sure
getting hard to find. $160.00

H Chapin Union Factory No 160 1 3/4 Inch Complex Molding Plane. The cut
is 1 3/4" and this weighs 1 lb 14 1/4 oz unboxed. This is in reasonable
condition and was cleaned. Note this is straight, any bending you see
is because of camera lens distortion. The body has some dings and
scratches but there are no checks on the toe or heel. The sole has some
scratches and a little wear. The boxing is good. The mouth is open a
touch but that's not a big issue with a plane of this size. The wedge
is good. The cutting face of the iron is clean other than some spots at
the top and it's correctly profiled for the plane. The edge isn't too
bad but it could stand a quick touchup. These bigger molding planes are
sure getting few and far between and while this one isn't minty, it sure
ain't all that bad either. $45.00

Dunlap Flat Sole Spokeshave Or Spoke Shave. The blade is 2" wide and
this weighs 9 3/4 oz unboxed. Dunlap was one of the brand names used by
Sears on their woodworking tool line. This is in reasonably good
condition and was cleaned. There ain't much in the way of patina other
than a little bit down around the cap pin. The finish is original and
close to 100%. The sole is good. The mouth is a little uneven at the
rear but that's how this was made. The blade has a few tiny dots but
there is plenty there to work with and it won't take much to get it back
to shaving sharp. The screw does it's job and was oiled. I gotta say,
as these guys have been showing up, this one sure ain't bad. $25.00

Stanley No 66 Type 1 Hand Beader To Restore. This weighs 15 oz unboxed.
Justus A. Traut of New Britain, CT was granted Pat. No. 335,856 on
Feb. 9, 1886 for the design of the fence used on this tool. This is in
decent condition and was cleaned by someone else who sprayed it with the
shiny stuff. The japanning is pretty much a memory. The sole has some
frosting and scratches. There are a couple of tiny chips on the front
of the mouth but nothing too bad. The clamp and screw are good. This
has the 1/4" beading blade. That does have some pitting. This will
need the fence and screw but those ain't that hard to make. This is
what it is but you ain't gonna get much more for this kind of money. $24.00

Big Solid Brass Compass Sole Violin Makers Spoke Shave Or Spokeshave.
Measuring 5 1/2" overall, the blade is 2" wide straight across the edge,
and this weighs 7 1/2 oz unboxed. Not signed as to the maker. This is
in decent condition and was cleaned. It never was finished off real
pretty to start with. The body has some scuffs and casting roughness.
The sole is good other than some light scratches. The blade was
fashioned from a Stanley spoke shave blade. That is clean on the
cutting face and there is some steel to work with. The edge will need a
quick touchup. This ain't pretty or perfect but these bigger ones
rarely show up, at least around here. $28.00

Vintage Union Spoke Shave Or Spokeshave. Measuring 9 1/2" overall, the
blade is 2" wide, and this weighs 8 3/4 oz unboxed. The blade mark is
faint. This is in reasonably good condition, and was cleaned and
repainted. The original finish was down to 50% and so I made it pretty
again. The sole has some frosting and a few scratches but the mouth is
good. The blade also has some frosting but nothing too bad and there is
plenty to work with. That will need a sharpening. This ain't the
fanciest but it is a neat looking tool. $22.00

Stanley Bedrock Style Frog No 6 & 7 Keen Kutter Winchester Plane With
Screws. This all weighs 15 1/2 oz unboxed. This will fit the round
side Bedrock planes that Stanley made for both Keen Kutter and
Winchester. This came off of a Winchester W 4 1/2, but it will fit the
No. 5 1/2, No. 6, and No. 7 planes as well. This is in decent condition
and was cleaned. The jappaning is original and about 90%. There is
some crusty down in the crannies and nooks. The depth adjuster screw
was oiled and the screw the frog adjuster tab was oiled as well. This
comes with the bed screws and the frog adjuster screw. They also have a
little patina left. This ain't perfect but it will do the job. $30.00

G I Mix No 1 EX 3/4 Inch Wheelwrights Corner Chisel. Measuring 11 3/4"
from the edge to the end of the socket, the blade is 8 1/2" long, this
is 16 1/4" overall (as pictured), and this weighs 15 oz unboxed. G. I.
Mix was a CT edge tool maker in business during the last quarter of the
19th Century. This is in reasonably good condition and was cleaned.
There is are a few spots of pitting up by the edge, after that there
just is some frosting and a few dots. The edge is a little uneven but
pretty close to being sharp. The inside of the blade was never finished
off real pretty like to start with. The socket is good and was never
struck. The handle looks to be the original one. That is good other
than a few stains and a little fuzzy at the striking end. I did have it
off of the tool and didn't seat it back tight because it will make
shipping easier and less expensive. Mix is well known for the quality
of their framing tools and slicks and this one shows it. Needless to
say, these do not show up very often in this kind of shape. $60.00

AETCO 5/16 Inch Skew Edge Carving Tool Chisel. Measuring 4 5/16" from
the edge to the top of the handle, the blade is 3 11/16" long, this is 9
3/8" overall, and this weighs 2 1/4 oz unboxed. The American Edge Tool
Company worked in or around the Philadelphia PA area, from the late
1940's until the early 1960's. This is in reasonably good condition
and was cleaned. It wasn't used much but it picked up some patina
setting around someplace. The blade has spots of frosting and staining
but nothing too bad. The handle has a few stained spots as well but
it's good otherwise. This ain't the fanciest but it will get the job
done. $14.00

Marking Layout & Machinist

No 65 12 Inch Wood Folding Rule. This weighs 1/2 oz unboxed. This looks
to be an unmarked Chapin Stephens to my eye. This is reasonably good
condition and was cleaned. The finish on the outside is worn and there
is a scratch on the one leg but it's not cracked. The inside has most
of the original finish. The brass has some stained spots. The one leg
has a wee bit of warp to it but nothing too bad. All of the locator
pins are missing but a lot of folks would pull those and they are easily
replaced. This what it is, but it is a neat little rule and I sure
ain't been seeing too many around that are even close to this condition.

18th Century Circle Cutter Wing Compass. Measuring 6 1/4" long and this
weighs 6 1/4 oz unboxed. Not signed as to the maker, there are user
initials on the one arm. The one arm ends in a point and the other in a
blade and that is how this was made. This is in decent condition and
was cleaned. There is some overall frosting and some spots of deeper
pitting on the arms. The three finger (2+1) joint is good and was
oiled. The locking screw works but does not remove all the way. Both
tips are sharp. This is one of those tools that rarely shows up and
even though this isn't in the best condition, well for the age it isn't
bad and I have seen worse. $38.00

Chapin Stephens Rosewood Marking Gage Or Gauge. The beam is 9" long and
this weighs 4 1/2 oz unboxed. Not signed as to the maker, but Chapin
Stephens rarely marked their gages and the oval head and parallel lines
on the ruled area mark this as one of theirs. This is in good
condition, the only cleaning was to take off the obligatory paint spots
and some light rust on the tip. The beam is good other than some dings
from the locking screw. All the rulings are clear and readable. The
point could stand a quick tuneup. The head is good as well with no wear
marks. These guys do not show up very often and rarely in this kind of
condition. $26.00

Nelson & Hubbard Middletown CT 8 Inch Adjustable Bevel Square. The
blade is 8 3/16" long and this weighs 4 oz unboxed. Nelson & Hubbard
were Middletown CT tool makers who worked from around 1839 until at
least 1851. This is in decent condition and was cleaned. The blade
does have some spots of light pitting but it retains most of the
original gray finish. The rosewood handle has some dings and light
checks and there are user initials on both sides. The locking screw
does it's job. This ain't minty but considering that it's at the least
166 years old and probably older than that, well it sure ain't bad. $25.00

F G Pearson Sheffield 9 Inch Cabinet Makers Try Square. Measuring 10
5/8" overall, the blade is 9 1/16" long, 2 3/8" high, this is 7 5/16"
overall in height, and this weighs 11 oz unboxed. F. G. Pearson was a
Sheffield England jointers tool maker in business from 1865 until 1900.
This is in reasonably good condition and was cleaned. The blade has
some areas of light rust etching on both sides but nothing too deep and
it has most of the original bluing. The edges and corners are good.
The handle is beech. That has some stains and dings but nothing too
bad. This looks to be true according to the old flip test but if you
want Starrett accuracy, well buy a Starrett. Just saying. This ain't
perfect but it sure ain't bad considering that it's well over the 100
year old mark. $22.00

Vintage Machinist Screw Feed Lathe To Restore. The bed is 26 1/4"
overall in length, this is 3" from the top of the bed to the center of
the chuck so that makes this a 6" lathe, and this weighs, well a lot and
I ain't gonna worry about it since I ain't shipping it. Not signed as
to the maker. This is in as found and to restore condition. There is
some dust but nothing much in the way of rust. The headstock has a No.
1A Jacobs chuck. There is a thin threaded rod handing out of the front
end of the head stock, what it's for, I ain't gotta clue. The chuck
spins freely but could stand some oil. The tool holder is good, the
nuts work and the screw feed works smoothly. The center point at the
tailstock is a little dull but that can be fixed easily enough. The
centering screws on the tailstock look to be replacements and I didn't
mess with those. This is what it is but for the money, you ain't gonna
do much better. I ain't got no inclination whatsoever to ship this guy
so it's PICKUP only at my shop. $110.00

Vintage Steel & Brass Jeweler Watchmaker Thickness Gage Or Gauge.
Measuring 5 15/16" long and this weighs 1 1/2 oz unboxed. Not signed as
to the maker. This is in reasonably good condition and was cleaned.
The steel arms have some frosting and stains but nothing too bad. The
tips are good and the joint and spring work well. I did put a little
oil down in the joint. The brass scale is good and all the rulings
readable. This is neat tool to say the least. $20.00

tip is 1/16 in diameter, and this weighs 1 1/2 oz unboxed. Not signed
as to the maker. This is in decent condition and was cleaned. There is
some light patina and wear. The tip is good and was dressed recently.
Note the pattern on the bevels in the handle area. The striking end has
a bloom of mushrooming but nothing sharp. This is what it is, but it is
a neat little tool. $25.00

Smith & Wesson Sight Adjustment Screwdriver Collectible Old Gun Tool

Smith & Wesson Sight Adjustment Screwdriver. Measuring 3 1/16" long,
the tip is 1/8" wide, and this weighs 1/2 oz unboxed. Not signed as to
the maker, but I know what it is and you know what it is so spare me the
commentary. This is in decent condition and was not cleaned. There is
a little patina on the blade but nothing to fuss about wear wise. The
aluminum handle has some stains and light wear. This ain't minty and it
sure ain't got the price tag of a minty one either. $28.00

Early Hand Forged Denglestock PA Dutch Scythe Sharpening Anvil.
Measuring 7 3/4" long, the face is 1 5/16" wide, and this weighs 1 lb 3
oz unboxed. Not signed as to the maker, this does have a user name on
the side which you don't see very often on these guys. Now what's a
denglestock (also spelled dengelstock and a bunch of other ways as
well), you ask? Well them old PA Dutch (German) farmers, being of a
thrifty (also know as cheap) bunch, instead of grinding down their
scythe blades, would stick the denglestock into a stump or the top of a
fence post and using a cross peen hammer (called the dengle of all
things) would draw out the edge of the blade till it was sharp and then
dress it with a stone. Pretty neat eh? This is in decent condition and
was cleaned. This does have a steel face set into the wrought iron
body. The face does have a chip on the side and some scuffs from a
previous cleaning. The body has some scatches and overall patina. The
spike is good. This ain't pretty or perfect but these guys rarely are.

Big Early Hand Forged Cobblestone Mason Hammer. Measuring 8 3/8"
overall, the head is 10 5/8" long (straight across), the face is 1 5/8"
in diameter, the peen is 2 3/4" wide, and this weighs 4 lbs 3 oz
unboxed. Not signed as to the maker. This is in decent condition and
was cleaned. There is lots of patina overall but I'm thinking that this
guy is easily 200 years old or pretty darn close. Oh and spare me the
"this is a cooper's adze" comments, I know the difference thank you.
The face has some dings and this was being used fairly recently although
I doubt it was for it's original purpose. I did run a file over a few
sharp bits on the edge. The peen also has some dinging and the one
corner does have a crack going. I also filed down some sharp stuff on
there. The handle is more for show than go. There is some wear,
checks, and the end is rough. The head wiggles a little as well. These
guys sure ain't been showing up much of late, at least around these here
parts. $35.00

7/16" long, the blade is 1 1/2" wide across the edge, and this weighs 6
oz unboxed. Not signed as to the maker. This is in decent condition
and was cleaned. There ain't much in the way of patina to fuss about.
There is some mushrooming on the top of the blade but that's an
occupational hazard. The edge is good with no dings and it wouldn't
take much to get it sharp again. This definitely is not your run of the
mill clinch cutter. $17.00

Early Taylor Patent 10 Inch Sweep Iron Bitstock. Measuring 12 3/8"
long, the sweep is 10", and this weighs 2 lbs 1 1/2 oz unboxed. Not
signed as to the maker. Jeremy Taylor of Hebron, CT was granted Pat.
No. 9,814 on June 30, 1836 for the design of this tool. These were made
in several different styles by a number of manufacturers over the years.
This is in reasonably good condition for the age and was cleaned.
There is some light patina but nothing too bad. The chuck has a little
crusty inside but there are no cracks and the lever and tab are good.
The sheet iron pad was originally black japanned. Some of that remains
on the inside. There are a few spots of pitting on the outside. The
pad has a little play on the shaft but it spins freely. I did put a
drop of oil in the appropriate hole. I have have a few of these over
the years and they sure ain't getting any easier to find, especially in
this kind of shape. $30.00

Great Early Hand Forged S Shape Spanner Wrench From An Old File.
Measuring 10 5/16" long (straight across), the opening is 1 3/16" wide
at the inside, and this weighs 1 lb 1 3/4 oz unboxed. Not signed as to
the maker. This is in good condition for the age and was cleaned.
There really ain't much in the way of patina to fuss about. The wrench
end is good. The handle area is good and was nicely forged. I gotta
say that these file made tools are a very underappreciated folk art form
and this is a nice one. $18.00

Small Early Hand Forged Scroll End Cabinet Latch. Measuring 4 3/8"
long, 3/4" wide across the slot, and this weighs 1 1/2 oz unboxed. Not
signed as to the maker. This is in decent condition and was cleaned.
There is some overall patina, including a couple of deeper spots of
pitting but that comes with old age. Both the eye and the slot are
solid. This is what it is, but these smaller ones sure don't show up
very often and if you do early restoration work, it is a must have item.

Original Early Hand Forged Pot Or Kettle Hook. Measuring 9 1/4" long,
the body is roughly 9/16" wide, 7/16" thick, and this weighs 12 oz
unboxed. Not signed as to the maker. This is in decent condition for
the age and was cleaned. There is lots of patina on guy. Both hooks
have a little wear to the insides but they are solid and both have
scroll ends. This ain't the fanciest but these guys have been few and
far between around here of late. $24.00

Goodell Brothers Patent 1897 Reversible Automatic Screwdriver.
Measuring 8 3/4" long when closed (excluding the blade), the tip is
5/16" wide, and this weighs 11 1/4 unboxed. Herbert D. Lanfair and
Henry E. Goodell both of Greenfield, MA were granted Pat. No. 591,097 on
Oct. 5, 1897 for the design of this tool which was made by the Goodell
Brothers Co. This is in reasonably good condition and was cleaned.
Overall there ain't much in the way of patina to fuss about. The blade
does have some light pitting. The cross hatching on the ferrule,
spinner, and the two locking nuts is good. The ferrule is good with no
cracks and has most of the plating. The handle has a few bits of paint
and some dings but it does have most of the original finish plus a coat
of wax. Now the way this guy works is that you lock one of the brass
nuts to have it go one direction, or tighten that one and loosen the
other to go in the opposite direction. Pretty neat eh? This is one of
the earliers reversible ones out there and I have to say from a lot of
experience that they rarely show up in this kind of shape. $22.00

Very Early Hand Forged Carpenters Housewright Claw Hammer Head.
Measuring 4 5/8" long (straight across) and this weighs 13 3/4 oz
unboxed. Not signed as to the maker. This is in fair condition and was
cleaned. This looks to be a dug item. This has a steel face on a
wrought iron body and the tops of the claws are lined with steel as
well. There is some overall pitting. The face has some chipping around
the edges and the claws have some chipping on the edges as well. The
punched eye has some crusty going and looking at the top, this may have
been a strap hammer when first made. This is what it is and it's not
what I would call a user but it does have some serious age to it. $20.00

There ain't much in the way of patina to fuss about. The jaws are good
and close up tight and a little off flush on the top and sides. There
are some cross hatch marks on the jaw faces and those are good. The
joint, screw, and spring all all good to go. These guys sure ain't

Early Flat Tang Curved Nose 9 1/6 Inch Chair Makers Spoon Bit.
Measuring 4 15/16" overall, the blade is 2 3/8" long, 9/16" wide, and
this weighs 1 oz unboxed. There looks to be a maker's mark on the tang
but it's too faint to read. This is for the European braces and bit
stocks that used a flat rather that a rectangular tang. This is in
decent condition and was cleaned. There is some overall patina. The
back of the blade is fairly good, there are lines scored across the back
as a depth mark. The inside of the blade has some light stuff but that
was never finished off real pretty like. The edge will need a touch-up
in the sharpening department. The shaft has a slight twist. The tang
has some wear and a little mushrooming on the edges. This ain't minty
but these guys sure ain't been showing up much of late at least around

1/16" long, the face is 9/16" in diameter, the peen is 7/16" in
diameter, and this weighs 3 1/4 oz total unboxed. The only mark is a
small B cast into the underside before the face. This is in reasonably
good condition and was cleaned. The face and peen are both good with no
real wear. The handle is the original one. That has a few stains and
light dings but nothing too bad. The head is on tight setting here.
This ain't minty but it feels like a quality tool. $20.00

Vintage 1/2 Inch Screwbox Or Wood Threader. Measuring 3 11/16" long, 1
5/8" high, 1 7/16" thick, and this weighs 4 oz unboxed. Not signed as
to the maker. There is decal mark on the one end but it's faded and
there is a user mark on the top and the ends as well. This is in used
but reasonably good condition. The only cleaning was to take some patina
off of the blade. The body has a few dings but has most of the original
finish. The one screw that holds the front on looks to be a
replacement. The blade is good but, (the READ part) it might need some
fine tuning as to the positioning. I did not get the tap with this guy.
This ain't perfect but these guys sure don't show up very often. $24.00

cleaned. The figure is good. The shaft has some dings and I did run a

edge to the start of the back), this is sharpened to 16 TPI CC, and this
weighs 7 1/2 oz unboxed. This is in decent condition. The only
cleaning was to take some funky off the back. The blade has some stains
and dots on the front and a few small rust spots on the back. All the
teeth are present and this is reasonably sharp. The handle has some
stains and dings as well. This ain't perfect but it is a quality tool.

Vintage Circle Or Gasket Cutter For A Brace. Measuring 5 13/16" from
the point to the end of the tang, the max diameter cut is 7 3/4", and
this weighs 8 1/2 oz unboxed. Not signed as to the maker, the tang and
the cutters all have 2 stamped into them. This is in reasonably good
condition and was not cleaned, at least by me. There ain't much in the
way of patina to fuss about. The blades are good and there is plenty
there to work with. They could stand a quick wipe or two over a stone.
The center point is sharp. The head has some wear to the finish but no
cracks. The locking screws work. The tang has some wear but nothing
too bad there. I gotta say that finding one of these in this kind of
shape is sure getting hard to do. $22.00

E C Stearns No 795-B Saw Set Or Sawset. This weighs 13 1/2 oz unboxed.
This can be used with saws from 4 to 16 TPI. This is in good condition
and was not cleaned. It sure wasn't used much. The finish has a few
dings but almost all of it is there as is the decal. The anvil and
plunger are good. There are few tiny dots of patina on the front but
nothing too bad there. The spring is good as well. I gotta say that
these guys rarely show up in this kind of shape and it is a quality
tool. $20.00

Old Disston Cast Iron Pad Or Keyhole Saw. Measuring 7 7/8" overall as
pictured, the blade is 3 1/2" long across the teeth, and this weighs 3
1/2 oz unboxed. This is in decent condition and was cleaned. The blade
has some staining and a few spots of frosting but nothing too bad. The
blade is slightly bent looking from the top. All the teeth are present
but this could use a sharpening. The handle is good for the most part
other than a little crusty inside the loops. The locking screw is good
and was oiled. This ain't minty but I sure ain't been seeing too many
of these guys with the blade. $17.00
