10004 "Ted Johnson" <toolbox@w...> 1996‑11‑23 BIO; Ted Johnson (Machinist tool chest)
My wife, Theresa, and I are empty nesters of 5 children. We have 9
grandchildren and probably a couple more later. We still work for a living
and I will till I'm a 70 year old Galoot. We live on Camano Island in
Washington state.
I'm researching old, wood, machinist tool chests with the goal of being
able to identify all those unmarked chests out there. Quite a few of you
brother galoots and galootes have filled out my tool chest questionnaire
with info about their own chests. My thanks to all of you for helping out
the rest of us. If you have a machinist tool chest and would like to fill
out the questionnaire perhaps we'll be able to i.d. it for you. It's
especially important to fill out a questionnaire if you DO know who the
manufacturer is because it's this data that will allow us to i.d. the
unknown ones. Just let me know if you want to participate.
Another good source for data is from the old tool supply catalogs. If you
have any that include a line of wood, machinist tool chests please let me
know.
I've compiled a list of eight potential manufacturers and a coulpe weeks
ago Ed K., MA, added a nineth - 'Pilliod'. He has a Pilliod chest that he
says is total quality.
So, till we meet on the back porch, have a good one.
