Gentle Galoots,

I've posted a bio to the list but figured it's time to put up a more
permanent one. I got started by my Dad, who inherited tools from various
ancestors. The tools were there in Halifax and I used 'em.

Years later, after muddling through engineering school and moving to
Calgary (before I was aware of famous ol' Cowtown eric), back to Halifax,
and then Denver, I built my bride a kind of lousy set of bookshelves from
"liberated" roofing plywood from a construction site dumpster. I painted
it white and finish nailed a tung oiled oak strip on the front of each
shelf to dress it up. Amazed at how nice a poorly-joined piece of yard
sale-class junk could look, I began on my slippery slope by the numbers,
first getting hooked on planes, and now on saws, and soon on drills.

Having sharpened a Disston D23 hand saw to a state where you can almost
recognize teeth in there, I'm working on a backsaw and still hacking out
my millennium cabinet, a wall hung bathroom medicine cabinet begun back
in the last millennium and still under construction.

Cowtown Eric can take credit for enticing me to this list and due to
bandwidth I defected from rec.woodworking.

Soon SWMBO and I will be returning to Canada, but still know not where.
