Name is Bill and live in Southeastern Pennsylvania, great place for tool
research and collecting. Retired in 1989 (early), spending the previous 32
years in all phases of Data Processing (old name for Computer Science).
Since charter for OLDTOOLS covers pre-1960 tools, maybe can find old
punched card needle around house someplace!

Member of EAIA, National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors
(NAWCC), couple of antique car clubs, attending farm and house auctions
for over 35 years, member of Gosenhoppen Historians (has a great festival
each year in August near Allentown, PA - many very authentic
presentations), always learning and studying about how things were done in
the past.

Worked in cabinetmakers shop back in late 40's for a year plus some summer
work and have had a home shop all adult life. Started collecting and using
(gently) antique hand tools about 15 years ago with emphasis on pre metal
plane era. Am of preservation/conservation school and think that sweat
patina should be retained on tools. Recent projects include restoring a
Zogroscope (that's a test), one of wife's flax spinning wheels (important
to get the cant on the wheel support arms just right), and a Hepplewhite
bow front 4 drawer chest (is French polish pumice pad a tool? It does
remove a tiny bit of wood when filling pores on veneer patches!).

Planning to post a few questions re some odd tools I have and will be glad
to join in when I can contribute. - Bill Hoag, Malvern, PA
